The irony of the only white dude being like, "wait should we do this" lol
Yea I happened to read your "situation time to breathe" comment when hearing the video of him saying it, lol.
Showbiz. Still hopeful everything works out though.
Anthony Mackie also thinks that the BP franchise has always been about Wakanda and not about the Black Panther.

I mean whatever I don't give a frak what anyone says. Neither Wakanda, nor the supporting cast were elevated or fleshed out enough to carry the franchise. Time is on the side of Recast, especially when it doesn't seem like there is much direction to the sequel. Also I gotta say this made me chuckle

Who is this sidekick ass dude to tell us that the first black superhero Marvel ever created is less important than his background. These actors do a job they don't give a s*** about the characters

Or if it becomes another Last Jedi. Because you know how hard Lucasfilm tried to course correct when it split the fandom, even more so after John Boyega roasted them.
And NOTICE you don't see Finn in anything anymore.
And the sad thing is John Boyega did NOT start the split-it was the trolls that Lucasfilms seems to be pandering to. It would be interesting how bad it would have gotten if Michael B Jordan had gotten the role after FF and would he had even been Killmonger. Since Jordan admitted he tried out for what would become Finn.

Like I said, they course corrected when people roasted them. Heck they even did it AGAIN when Twitter raked them over the coals for not including Finn in a force awakens picture and they promptly put up a new picture including him.
And yeah. MBJ dodged a bullet.
When have they been on a situation like this? Going "Well they haven't failed yet" doesn't work here. Now of this had happened before sure, there's reason to have faith, but given the circumstances, what we know from what has been said, how fast Disney is pushing for filming despite the fact when Chad passed Coogler had just finished the script, after it took forever to do, now he has to start over. If Marvel is just n100% confident it will be fine then they are truly shortsighted
Theyre 100% confident because they credit the films success to a "diversity" model moreso the actual material. Its why they quickly greenlit ShangChi and are following the same Model. They believe black ppl will carry it no matter what they do.
We will see if they are right but I believe we are a smarter audience than that.

The movie will make money, that’s a given. What to watch for is if it will make as much as the first film and be as well received for that matter. Again, look at The Last Jedi.

Disney/Marvel loves honoring Black men. Wonder what the chinese Wakanda Forever Poster is gonna look like.

Disney made 5 SW films, two of which had negative backlash. (And one TV series that everyone loves, despite ignoring the fan complaints completely, but we don't talk about that.)
Feige & co. have made 23 MCU films. But I'm sure they need the fans to tell them what to do...
I am not going to trawl the Web looking for things to complain about. When we have solid data, not supposition or extrapolation, I'll be back.
I wonder if they had Coates/Acuna redo the last issue a bit so it would better align with what Ridley wants to do, hence the multiple delays?
I don't get the impression that Marvel cares enough about continuity here to care. I guess they cancelled that one Vision series because it didn't fit with current continuity, but that's the minority of situations (I feel they just ignore/retcon virtually immediately either way).

In this case... Yeah. Just because they have made 23 movies doesn't mean what they are doing with BP II (ie rushing the isht out of it) is a wise thing to do. They are banking on people seeing it out of brand loyalty and hoping people will buy into the idea that Wakanda is bigger than T'Challa. Never has Marvel ever come out to say the backdrop is bigger that the title Character.if we are being real, currently Wakanda had about as much depth as Asgard. That's not to say it wouldn't of been explored further bad Chad been alive, but to say it was also the focus is ignorant and the comments made by Mackie and as others keep parroting that sentiment is disgusting.
I'm not saying I know best or i could produce a better movie, nor that I think the movie is going to bomb. I just think they have a massive uphill battle to contend with ontop of all the emotion the cast is feeling. You can just tell from interviews. Which is why people keep saying they should of waited

Right. You don't hear this with Batman, Superman, Thor, etc.
The thing is without the Black Panther clan harnessing Vibranium and using it for the betterment of Wakanda, thereby, influencing others to follow suit, Wakanda wouldn't be what we know as the most advanced nation in the world. So saying Wakanda is more important than the Black Panther comes from a place of ignorance.

I knew about the Star Wars poser but I never knew about the Black Panther poster!
I'll be the first to tell you that a lot of representation has happened under Disney, but that is pretty egregious.
They're gonna promote Wakanda Forever as a Loan Opportunity for the African Continent

None of the movie Wakandans aside from Shuri and Okoye were interesting enough anyway. If they're doing a sequel without recasting, I don't think spreading the focus out is a good idea

Unfortunately, a lot of people came out of the first one thinking that witty one liners and a couple of cool action sequences equates to character development.

Didn't T'Challa have most of the action scenes anyway?
