So...where's Vicki Vale?
Maybe she was hanging out with Carmen Sandiego and Waldo?
Maybe Vicki has some sort of copyright elsewhere. And they think Vicki Vale isn't a stupid name?
Nah I love the alliteration.

I liked how writers used her in the early 80's as the nosey photojournalist trying to discover Batman's ID and selling pics of them to Boss Thorne.

I remember that--maybe it's another reason why she still irks me.

I liked her as a supporting character in Red Robin. She was a fun character in that book.
Same. I loved Kim Basinger's portrayal of the character in Batman 1989.
Wow, I forgot Kim Basinger had a Veronica Lake in Batman. Fashion wise much of the 1980's really were the 1940's all over again.
Apparently she was originally meant to be Silver St Cloud (as the 89 movie took a lot of inspiration from the Marshall Rogers/Steve Englehart run) however the studio decided that "Silver St Cloud" was too stupid a name so made them change her to be Vicki Vale instead
Having a female photojournalist made for a better story anyway than just someone in the movie whose sole purpose was just to be Bruce Wayne's squeeze. So the studio made the right decision.

1. Vicki is, as already mentioned, a Lois Lane knockoff.
2. DC have spent the past 15+ years establishing Catwoman as the only serious, lasting love interest. Bruce's other classic romances are thrown by the wayside. No more Talia romance, Silver is gone, etc.

When was the last time Silver even made an appearance? Silver Age?
As for Talia, even before she went psycho mother on Damian and what not, had a bad tendency to side with her eco-terrorist father over Bruce barring a rare exception here and there.
As for Selina, I down with it. She was the first one, and has been there through pretty much all of it. Plus I would like to see Damian as an older brother to Helena Wayne.
When was the last time Silver even made an appearance? Silver Age?
The Widening Gyre. Before New 52. She was about to marry Batman. I never read it myself. Everyone said the story's awful.
When was the last time Silver even made an appearance? Silver Age?
Don't think she existed then. Since she wasn't introduced until 1977, that would generally be considered "Bronze Age".

Nope, that would be Julie Madison.

Silver St. Cloud was on the TV show Gotham back in season 2 as sort of a love interest for Bruce Wayne who turned out to be planted by the Galavans in an attempt to kill Bruce.

I like when Vicki is used as an occasional recurring character in Batman (and family) stories.
And, from Batman Annual #13 (1989),
