There's a largely powerless remnant-unaffiliated with the first order-that exists in the new canon (Similar to how a more benign Imperial remnant eventually emerged and made peace with the new Republic in the older EU novels, at least before the Legacy stuff). Perhaps these stormtroopers belong to it.

Hopefully, they don't try to pull a Solo with this masked stranger.

What's the issue with that? And I mean besides using the same narrative trick.

Looks like Lucas visited the set.
Some kind of cantina/casbah type scene.
I think at one point Lucas did have a vision for an ongoing live-action TV series called Star Wars Underworld or something.
Wonder if anything plays off that?
Or if they are considering him directing an episode would be great.
And we already know Filoni is onboard to direct-

Curious Landscape on the monitor.
Likely the setting outside the cantina/casbah set in the first Lucas, Favreau photo above

Underworld has actually already had a bit of a role in Disney's Star Wars-"Rogue One" was originally a concept pitched during the planning of the show.
In 2007, there was also a teaser image for upcoming Star Wars projects: 2007's 30th anniversary and "The Force Unleashed" (although TFU was delayed until 2008) 2008's "Clone Wars" and 2009 for the TV show, which curiously, used Boba Fett's mask.
Kathleen Kennedy also said some of the ideas from cancelled projects like Underworld and 1313 might wind up in the new canon (apart from the Rogue One example).

So there's been pics of a guy in black robes on set. Some think this might be some secret cameo character and the robes are to hide him, but of course this being Star Wars perhaps it's a Jedi or dark force user?
There's a bit in some of the novels that after Vader's death there's a kind of fanatic cult going around who likes to collect Vader-related memorabilia, even buying an old red lightsaber (That probably wasn't his of course. Maybe these same cultists are the guys who unearthed his melted helmet which eventually wound up in Kylo's posession). Maybe on of those?
Or it could just be some background villager. Funny thing about the first Star Wars, I don't think Obi-Wan's look was intended to be the default Jedi uniform, as Owen and other characters wear similar outfits on Tatooine, but TPM pretty much made it the default Jedi look, although in concept art they toyed with the idea of the Jedi having battle armor (Which we sort of got in "Clone wars") or black outfits like Luke's ROTJ look.

Giancarlo's still on Better Call Saul playing Gus Fring again but I think that show's probably going to wrap up in a season or two.
Although he's done some live-action acting, Herzog is better known as a director and voice-actor. Wonder if he'll perhaps be doing a voice? or maybe even directing?

I always though the droid on cloud city was just a case of reusing props, and that the story by Anderson was just another case of a story not needed.
