UXM 16 Spoilers
Well that happened. UXM 16:
[SPOIL]Preview is the same.
-Scott calls a meeting and says he's stepping down as leader. Dani steps up and says the group should be run by the group, X-committee.
-Rahne bows out.
-Magick does Hope a solid and somehow convinces the others to let her an Banshee fight with them against...
-Magneto and his Brotherhood!...Ok its actually Joseph. Also isn't Avalanche dead?
-Joseph traps them and tries the usual sermon while Scott and even better Xian rebuffs him. She also gets the Juggernaut on their side!
-And then a wild Kwannon appears! And beheads Joseph. While saying she's trying to remember them?
-To round it up and increase the kill count: Dani collapses and shouts that Rhane had died. Off screen.
[/SPOIL]
So things are set up and new additions and losses. Yay?

YES, most definitely.
[SPOIL]... Magneto... actually [B]Joseph[/B]. ...

O... M... G... seriously?! WTF?!!!
[SPOIL]... Joseph... Xian rebuffs him... gets the Juggernaut on their side!
... Kwannon... beheads Joseph...[/SPOIL]
Oh well, at least a few good things happened, I guess. Might have to actually read this one.

This has to be the most ridiculous storyline ever. Seriously. None of this makes any sense. It’s like “this would be cool. No this would be cool. No, THIS would be cool” and they threw all of it together with no real thought behind it.
-
[spoil]The fact that I have to ask which Pyro is here is a testament to how bad it is that they let the original come back.
Some 90's garbage dying is good.
It's interesting how much of a nightmare WOTR has already become for continuity and legacy numbering.
I can't bother to throw a fit over Rahne because I can't pretend that literally anyone knows what to do with this character.
[/spoil]
-
All I'm going to say is I can't believe y'all tried to tell me I was wrong about them putting Kwannon in the thongkini.

It does seem like a bit of a menagerie and/or all-out cluster-fuck.

She was/is kinda damaged goods.

Every issue has a good idea, but most things happen off panel. Too much happens for no reason. Dead characters are just alive again. Moonstar is repowered (not that I’m complaining about that)? How? When? Is Dani using her Valkyrie powers or are these empathic powers? What happened with Wardrox from the end of last issue?
So many loose ends from one issue to the next just to try and cram other stuff in. This is poor fanfic at its finest

it's chill

Don't forget: CBR rules are that spoiler threads shouldn't be created until after 9am Eastern time.
Also: I for one welcome the return of classic X-Baddies like Pyro and Avalanche (who had one of the worst deaths in comics history IMO). But seriously? You can't throw in lesser-used Brotherhood members like Phantazia or Astra?
-
Good thing this thread got hidden. Not looking forward to this when I get home

Remember, the editors want you to use your imagination and assume what happens off panel. So imagine how all these loose threads happened and the job is done.

[QUOTE=Anduinel;4310168]JDW Says: Your fanfic is valid, dear readers![/QUOTE]
Comics have entered a chose your own fanfic for stories when things happen off panel with no explanation. I can't wait to see the poster battles on how [SPOIL]Rahne[/SPOIL] dies for each reader.
"They died eating a ham sandwich"
"Are you a moron? What comic are you reading? They died when they were torn in half!"
"No you're both wrong they died by sentient bacteria infecting Magneto to give them a planetary stroke."
-
I liked seeing Kwannon in her best Mileena impression, even though Mortal Kombat’s costumes have evolved to be less tacky than the X-Men’s.
Sure, it was sort of cute that these costumes were all the X-Men could find but EVERYONE is digging into the back of their closets for their battle attire.
Also Toad is green again...LOL.
I regret supporting this comic financially but I’m positive [spoil]Rahne’s death[/spoil] will be addressed next issue.
-
"I liked seeing Kwannon in her best Mileena impression, even though Mortal Kombat’s costumes have evolved to be less tacky than the X-Men’s."
That's mostly because Marvel regressed back to 80s/90s.

MK of all franchises has made an intentional move away from thongkinis and improving costume design whereas the X-Office is foolishly wasting Kevin Wada and collectively wearing their underwear outside of their pants again.
-
I like Rosenberg...but this book is a damn hot mess!
Too much going on with not enough focus.
Such a shame because I love the cast.
-
What!
So the most voted death (Hope, Warlock, Karma) didn't happen?
And it happened off-panel?
Why does everything have to happen off panel for Rosenberg?
Bring Cypher back.
-

Isn't this Rosenberg's usual pattern as a writer, though? Lots of good ideas, high energy plotting, focus can be a little iffy, can't really stick a landing?
-
Even though Scott stepped down, I did like seeing Dani and him fire off orders back-to-back & having Shan be the one to sway Cain to leave.

Well, if Hope wasn’t gonna die last issue, I don’t think he’d follow up a fakeout with a real one just an issue later. But I do think Logan was supposed to kill Hope last issue.
And Cypher’s in the Age of X-Man.

You need to take it easy because the costume designs for both sides are still horrid. Compared to the visual mess I have to deal with in this book and some of Age of Nate, MK may still have the lead but they're still bad.
-
Yes lets have everyone be leaders...it works so well in the military...we can apply that for spur of the moment decisions.
Dumbest thing ever.
I had high hopes for this but its really gone down hill since the first issue.
I would be more enraged about all the deaths if I thought they were going to stick.
Cyclops really should have stayed dead.
-
Rosenberg and Brisson are like these unrefined ores that could one day be smelted into powerful metals.
That means they need good editors.

Is this why dwarves are appearing in the next issue? To smith the ores?

the x-men are not the military but you can have a "board" taking decisions and a single tactical field leader on missions.

lol people thinking Wolfsbane is actually dead. Remember the outrage over Skids' off-panel death?

B.I.G. Peter Dinklage about to do the work.
-
I did like the parallel of Kwannon killing Joseph and Psylocke killing Magneto.
-
I'm not able to do this book anymore lol. It's just too cringe worthy of a story to make it through
-
Nothing in this book makes sense. Scott is criticized for "leading the X-men to the ground" when the X-men disappeared when he wasn't around, steps down so they can now vote and debate things as a group...even though that's something they already did before...because. Random forgotten 90's characters are brought in...because. Rahne dies off-panel...because.
-
Still enjoying this more than the AoX books which I've stopped reading except for the X-kids one. But yeah, the team is too big and all over the place. I'm just glad they are getting a new artist next issue because I really dislike the sloppy art we have now. God that cover with Cyclops looking like a back woods derpy grandpa with his pants pulled up too high was so awful.
-
X-fans: How will we tell Rahne and Hope apart?
Rosenberg: AlakaZAM, motherf*ckers!
Edit: This is the issue with the misprint. The real legacy number for this is 638.
-
This has been shamefully bad. Like... really bad.
-
This was a real mess.
What about Jamielock? Dark Beast? Crazy Hope? Zombie Sean?
It was all ignored.
Why would Cain be following Magneto?
Rahne leaving and dying off panel or Kwannon coming from nowhere are plots for the next issues, but Rosenberg completely ignored a lot of things he was working with.
At least Dani and Xian had more space.

X men are more militarily than Avengers & JL if you think about it.
