I prefer one minute melee myself. It keeps the characters mostly in character and doesn't do things like try to say a non-super powered character can react faster than light based on one instance of them dodging a laser.

Death battle is entertaining but cannot be taken seriously most of the time. Toph vs gaara and goku vs superman are among their greatest fuckups.

Just to fill time in the gap between seasons, they're planning on doing an "unscripted death battle" where they do a research meeting on the cast where they decide on the winner. And making it a tournament because they know people want a tournament arc.
