The Twilight movies actually had some very good actors in them good so I don't know why people would hold a grudge against Pattison for being in the films.
Lee Pace, Bryce Dallas Howard, Micheal Sheen, Dakota Fanning, Sarah Clarke, Anna Kendrick, Jack Huston and Wendell Pierce all appeared in the franchise.
Rami Malek was in a Twilight movie and he won a academy award this year.
A lot of those folks has careers before that film or did something BIGGER than Twlight. If you said those folks name to people-Twilight wouldn't come up in the conversation. Rami Malek-I think of Fox's War At Home & Mr Robot. SHeen-Masters of Sex. Pierce-The Wire.
Robert only had Harry Potter before Twilight.
I think folks hate the fact those movies got made and they were nothing more than fan fiction. While more talented folks had to go through tons of hoops to get a film made.
Including folks claiming "no one would watch that type of film based (insert silly reasons). Oscar winners Black Panther & Into SPiderverse say HI.

Finally stopped laughing at this tragically hilarious predicament and thought....
What If he is actually playing Terry/Batman Beyond?
Now that I could get behind. He wouldn't be my first through fifth choice but I could see that a whole lot better then I can see him playing Bruce Wayne aka The Real Batman.

Even if he was playing Terry it would still be a terrible choice. :(

He's too old for Terry but just right for Bruce Wayne in a normal Batman movie.

No arguing there.

No he's not. He's 33 most actors still play High School transitioning into college characters in their early 30's.
Tobey Magure late 20's when he was Spider-Man and Andrew was right at 31 when he played the character.
Tom Welling was playing "Young Clark Kent" in his mid-to late 20's into his 30s's

Sorry I just have to laugh at this whole thing because it shows the ridiculousness of Hollywood age.
As a kid who live outside America I used to think that American teenager looks super old and super hot because of this. Then when I saw a pamphlet for American Universities my high school gave out, I was surprised by how young American college students are in the photos. I mean by that point I already know about Hollywood age but it still surprised me.

I know what you mean.
Growing up watching Smallville I actually thought that it was possible for high school kids were able to get Tom's size in muscle mass. LOL Boy was surprised when I realized that wasn't even genetically possible without steroids. I was even more surprised to find out he was actually 30 when I started watching it.

Well it's slowly and finally changing. Teenagers and 20 year olds are actually starting to play the parts they look.

Great choice. He's gonna nail it.

Pattison actually isn't a bad actor, people need to let go of Twilight.

The "But he was in Twilight!" stuff is particularly rich from the same people who worshipped Batfleck even though Ben Affleck was also known for doing really crappy movies like Gigli and Reindeer Games before he started doing more serious dramatic work, not unlike Pattison.

So, on to the rumors about the villains:
One report specifically cited Penguin as the “primary antagonist” to Catwoman’s “secondary anatagonist,” though that was before Riddler got reported as a third villain.
Then there’s the Unicomb report saying that most of the villains are suspects in a mystery, which might mean a perp with a more humble reputation beneath Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, etc. Or it could be a conspiracy, or maybe a gun-for-here situation, or even just a “random encounter” situation.
Here’s some more fleshed out speculative possibilities, just dealing with the three supported bad guys:
- Penguin as the overarching main villain and Batman’s target, acting as the employer and boss for Riddler (as a consulting criminal planning things out for Penguin) and hiring Catwoman for a specific job (hired gun specialist). Batman suspects that it’s Penguin who committed whatever crime he needs to solve, but needs to get solid evidence that’s not just Riddler’s usual schtick or trying to arrest Catwoman, who’s as much ally as enemy to him.
- Penguin thinks he’s the main villain, but is in fact being played by Riddler, who’s distracted by a vendetta against Catwoman for stealing from him... at Riddler’s instigation, to try and keep Batman busy. But at some point, Penguin realizes he’s been played, and it becomes a three-way/four-way fight.
- Penguin and Riddler start the film at war with each other, instigated by some crime committed by Catwoman, who is in fact attempting to play those two rogues and Batman against each other so she can “steal” the position of the big bad boss of Gotham with the Calabrese family, since she wants to control crime.
- All three are simply suspects encountered and interrogated by Batman for a murder. Catwoman is the fully ambiguous femme fatale and ex that Batman doesn’t know if he can trust, Penguin is the guy he pressures to flush out the perp or else he’ll take down the Iceberg Lounge no matter how long it takes, and Riddler? Riddler knows who the killer is, but as an arrogant knowledge broker, only gives Batman clues while taunting him. Other guys like Bane could be integrated as other suspects (though with Bane it would be more the tense stalemate situation like in No Man’s Land.)
Something creative has to happen with this many villains.
Also, if anyone wants to hear some fun speculation about the kind of things my buddy and I think would be cool to see in the new movie (type of Bruce portrayed by Pattinson, personality and relationship-to-Batman Catwoman, Penguin’s disfigurements, how we’d want to see the Riddler, etc.), we did a podcast : https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/franchisewars/id1286433288?i=1000439082184

I think a lot of the people giving their hot takes on Batman casting probably don't watch enough indie films, if any, to realize that Pattinson has done anything post-Twilight.

My thoughts exactly. I can hardly wait to see him in the Bat Suit kickin' ass and taking names.

I'm more concerned about the Bat-suit(s) and villain looks. I want to see some really comic book like suits dammit. BVS was the best but I know they can do even better.
