Let's add Dinah, Zatana, Hawkgirl, and Ray and make this the JLA.
Has anyone re-read Waid & Kitson's JLA Year One or Brave & Bold recently? Do those comics hold up?

Year One, if memory serves, had some good bits but was just too long. I remember enjoying his Brave and the Bold as a fun series save some weird stuff like Hal trying to tell himself not to be attracted to a teenager. That wasn't great.
Waid's two Brave and the Bold arcs are pretty great in my opinion.
Hal just really misread Supergirl being an overly-enthusiastic teenager :p.

Both are fresh in my mind, I think they're great. Year One ranks up there as one of the best JL origins with great character work, even if it is a little drawn out. And Brave & the Bold is a wonderful tribute to Flash & GL. Those stories are a little less "weighty" overall but as individual stories they're so fun.

One of the few misses in that run. I was hoping Waid would stay on the book longer. So many great moments.
This story really cannot be praised enough. There's a reason that New Frontier keeps getting reprinted over and over again like Watchmen, Dark Knight Returns, Kingdom Come, and All-Star Superman.
Yes. One of the all time classics.
I'd forgotten his second Brave & Bold run with Perez. That was interesting, except for the weird Supergirl thing, but that version of the character was explicitly designed to be teenage jailbait (but technically over 18 so Loeb, Turner & Berganza had cover for being creeps). As cringe-inducing as that Hal/Kara story was, it was "on brand" for what DC direction for the character at the time ;)

That special was awesome. Always wished we'd see those two tackle Hal again.

Yep. Always has been, probably always will be.
