This book has constantly been the worst of AoXM... I really don’t get the hype for Leah’s writing.

I'm with you on this. This book has been dull and just not good. People love leah williams, I just don't so far

I thought Id like Xtemeist the most but its actually my least favorite. I like Amazing Nightcrawler and NextGen better.
I like how each issue has gotten more disturbing with what Department X does as the gang is closer to waking up. I can see why some don’t like pieces of dialogue, but what has been bad about any of the issues out so far?
Psylocke and Blob making heart-eyes at each other just before she goes to wipe this guy's memory for the same "crime". Man, this book is creepy and messed up.
I'm enjoying the group interactions and just how [I]broken[/I] everyone in this book is, but the art is really inconsistent. I thought the scenes between Bets and Fred last issue looked good and sometimes the expressions really do work, but then we get moments where things just kind of go cartoony. Still, looking forward to this one. Though, if it holds true to form for most of the third issue AoXM books, I expect the pacing will slow to a crawl.

It's in-character for Northstar, at least. It's a trait he's had since the Byrne days of Alpha Flight, and one way he keeps people at a distance. Bobby keeps joking that Moneta is JP's mini-me, so that might have something to do with why she does it.
So far, this book had the most notable improvement between issues, unlike Marvelous and X-Tracts. Here's hoping it keeps up.

I'm a fan of hers but I found this title just too cringey at first. However after hearing her talk in a podcast it seems like this was done on purpose to throw the reader for a loop that this group is basically a Gestapo yet they are oblivious to that. That helped me enjoy Issue two and I likely will keep reading, but I've pretty well lost interest in this whole event outside of Next Gen.

Betsy is a lucky woman to have a man like Blob.
I still have a problem with the art. Is it supposed to be somewhat of a juxtaposition to the darker/creepier aspects of the writing? I feel like I would enjoy this more if the art was a little darker and more sophisticated?
Not saying the art is bad, I just don't like how the tone doesn't match...

I agree with "cringey" but as a compliment to the writing and the best of what AoXM is accomplishes. I can certainly understand people's disgust and avoidance to William's writing. But I'm fairly positive that's her intent. 'Horror' is a vast genre, but it works on certain beats that are very much at play here.
Transgressive dystopian weird horror in mainstream comics is exciting to me. Not only because it engages the reader's fascination with repulsion but it challenges the prejudices inherent in pop iconography that limit and control that perception of 'beyond' as a conception itself and limiting. Horror doesn't really work if the one experiencing it isn't made to cringe, tremble and actually feel abjection as a force.
Our own prejudices and intolerance and expectations are the monsters.
I think Williams is fantastic.
This is my least favorite of the AoXM books, it just seems off. It's not as much what they are doing, but snarking in French and Bobby's jokes are annoying.
I much prefer GenX, Nightcrawler and Prisoner X

Mainstream comics in many ways was born from this kind of defiance in disguise, then became the thing that needs to be defied, off with the disguise, in a new disguise.

It's arty I guess. Yet generous and transparent. Williams also uses social media and out-of-the-panel discourse in her work I think...which, the way she's incorporating it all is progressive, transgressive and interesting.
I wanted to like this book. I put this book on my pull list because I wanted to support the writer. Her takes on the X-men on twitter and tumblr made me a fan. I think she has great potential. So far this book has been enjoyable but I'm not here for silly/super funny X-men comics. I like a little humor but prefer the books to be serious and a bit darker with a slight edge.
The covers to this book have been awesome. The art is a bit too cartoony for my taste. It is an interesting book and I will likely continue reading it.
I'm just over this Age of X-man world. Every issue of every book seems like the same thing. We need the story to progress.

I think it is bad writing and even worse, it's so boring. Williams is much better at writing twitter comments than she is at comics books.

This will be interesting, I'm throughly intrigued. Northstar is an almost enigma to me, somehow the most captivating character on the team, despite and because of his distance and odd presence, like he's watching everybody, like he's either on the defensive or offensive...he's certainly up to something. Riding shotgun...

The art is still off-putting and there's no action. X-tracts had a fight scene in #2 at least and the art there is just a manga version of Mike Allred's style.
#1 of this had 5 pages of Bobby trying to roast Jubes with wax paper then wasted a good bit cuz they almost got bodied by a pregnant rat.

The near total lack of actual action across these books in general has been one thing that’s bored me about the event as a whole. I’m all for meaningful interactions but I kinda want some action in my superhero comics.

Maybe not but she dragged the joke on far too long, continuously bringing it up for no apparent reason. And on top of it, the book just isn’t all that interesting basically being bathed in such hypocrisy that none of the characters are likable aside from Fred who genuinely just wants to be doing what’s right.

It was a page and most of another. I think it got brought up one other time and it was offscreen as we saw another plot happening so it wasn't really "wasting" anything. And does the likability of the characters have to do with the premise of the book or how they're written? Also....Fred isn't doing the right thing. None of them are. There shouldn't be a single main character we are [B]rooting[/B] for while they're erasing relationships.
