I would also like to add these for some inspiration on ninja designs.

Honestly, kinda wish they would lean away from the whole ninja thing.

That is point of the character tho, She isn't Betsy, Kwannon is a ninja that is her defining feature.

I’d like to see a redesign of her first costume.

Exactly. This is basically the 90s ninja version with her original consciousness intact. Personally this version is what I consider my Psylocke, as I got into comics with Claremont and Lee’s X-men #1.
-
I feel pretty sure the ninja never used to dress like that.

I kinda agree but there are female marvel characters which are becoming more generic with new character designs from Marvel. Like for instance, Elektra and your avatar.
-
That costume is pretty much THE reason Kwannon didn't just vanish after her weird Uncanny X-Men stunt. JDW literally said that with Betsy going back and becoming Captain Britain, they wanted to still have a place for "the Psylocke of the most sold comic ever (X-Men #1) cover".

I still say she could be iconic and wear actual leggings
-
the costume can remain the same in shape, replace the nude parts with leggings in red and blackish purple, there done
-
There is a way to take Kwannon's most recognizable costume and update it. I honestly have no problem with most female characters costumes until artists start taking liberties with them. (I am one of those that does not get all the uproar about Spider-Woman's costume...it's only sexual if you look at it that way. Although the Psylocke costume is often drawn as a thong which can be laid squarely at the feet of the artists drawing it and the editors not saying it's not allowed, redo it.)
Either way, I understand it is her "iconic" appearance, but there can be something done to update it that doesn't make her unrecognizable or generic.

DC tried that with Wonder Woman's outfit and it didn't last long. Comic book fans love a bare leg.

Yeah. Covered legs don't sell as many variant covers...

Unlike Wonder Woman, Jean isnt known for having her ass on display. Underwear and skirt is WW, signature look and fits her Amazonian background. Thats not the case for Jean
Yeah. Covered legs don't sell as many variant covers...
and I doubt the Marvel Girl costume is a bigger seller than the variants of her in the Phoenix costume which has her completely covered from neck to toe. Her most iconic look is the one that shows the least skin. All of Jean's standard costumes with the exception of the MG look are covered up
