Thanks for sharing this my friend. It’s one of my all time favorite comic book pages.
You're welcome. It's no problem at all. Avengers #16 is a definite classic & an all-time favorite for me, as well. :)

Truly an emotional ending (IMHO):

I have always wondered if that particular change in the comics was a creative decision or a marketing one. That version of Iron Man had a cartoon. The 90's cartoon. With Force Works. And action figures based on the cartoon.
Usually Iron Man armor changes because either the artist or the writer has a new concept of how the armor should look or work or both. But in this case I wonder.
Because Iron Man used to have specialized armor for any situation: Stealth Armor, Space Armor, Underwater Armor, Arctic Armor, etc. Perfect for selling multiple action figures of the same character. But the Iron Man of the cartoon was running with modular armor. One core suit that got extra stuff bolted onto it so it could do different stuff.
That's a completely different toy line set up ( I only remember them making one figure like that-a 6 inch Tony Stark figure that you could put armor on) from what the Iron Man toys of the time did. So I wondered if that was why they made the change.
Then the cartoon got canceled anyway.
Funny thing is I don't think that I have seen Tony's Specialty Armors in the comics anymore. There's a Space one that got used a while back and that's about it.

Speaking of Iron Man armors, my favorite of recent years was the Model-Prime Armor. It had a stealth mode, a camouflage mode, a samurai mode, a "War Machine" mode . . . and so many more functions it could adapt and shift itself to perform. Plus, it was somehow all contained in a wrist-mount that could rapidly expand to cover Tony completely, and as a sucker for a good, old-fashioned transformation sequence thanks to years of Power Rangers (or tokusatsu in general as I discovered it), that was totally my jam.

Like a lot of Bendis stuff, it wasn't executed or utilized near as well. And then the suit got taken as Riri's look for, like, a year.

The look, yeah, though her suit was a separate model that resembled his. And then we had Doctor Doom as the Infamous Iron Man, using a modified copy of the Model-Prime Armor in his own colors.

That’s my second favorite armor of all time. For a lot of the reasons you’ve named. It was fantastic. They didn’t keep it long enough IMO.

Agreed. Speaking of Iron Man, anyone read the Darkhold: Iron Man one-shot today?

I haven’t read it yet. I usually have to wait until the weekend to get my books.

Yep! Double dose of Iron Man today, between the Darkhold one-shot and the new issue of his regular book.
The one-shot was extremely creepy and disturbing! Very fitting to be out in the month of Halloween. Ryan North used to have a lot of fun with Tony in the pages of his UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL series but this is a very different take on Tony and a very different tone than his work in that book!

As someone who has never been interested in reading Iron Man comics, and only bought this run because of Ben Reilly appearing, I have to say: it's really good. I enjoy the characterization of every single character that Cantwell has used (save Cardiac at the beginning of the run); the art is incredible issue after issue; and the action in yesterday's issue was a heck of a lot of fun!
Frog-Man for the win!
-Pav, who loves how Ben's Scarlet suit looks under this art team...
