This is honestly perfect.
References both her force field powers and her medical background, plus a cheeky nod to our current predicament.
Ward is nice. One syllable. Dual meaning in reference to both her medical skills(ward as a section of a hospital) and her protective field(ward as in defensive spellcraft).
Not meaning any offense to other suggestions, but this one is probably my favorite. Really great thought.
I think since she is from Puerto Rico, a Spanish code-name would fit way better.
How about Proteger (which means protector , or shield), Blindada (Shieled) or Salvar (save)?
If it would be up to me, I would go for Proteger
I went with Spanish too (Fuerza)! I think Proteger would be too close to protegee, but I think you're on to something.
Ward is absolutely perfect.
Triage
Forget the other character using that name in the Xbooks.
Aegis.
But that was the name of a New Warriors character during Faerber’s run.
So what? Melody Guthrie's codename is Aero. The name was recently reused for a New Agent of Atlas only for Melody to get her powers back and resume using the name! Hardly the first time a codename has been shared by unrelated characters either. When Rich Rider wasn't in use for most of the 80s, his codename, Nova, was given to Frankie Raye, Silver Surfer's replacement as Galactus's herald. And there's been three Marvel Boys, all unrelated - Uranian of the Agents of Atlas, Justice of the New Warriors, and Noh-Varr, of the Young Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.
By the way, Cecilia Reyes does have a codename. Forcefield.

I was intrigued so looked up the citation. It was just used as a joke/insult.

Sure. Just not sure I want CeCe related to such an embarrassing character, even if only tangentially.

You're welcome! I couldn't exactly recall so had to look it up. In any case, Forcefield is a terrible codename and available for a reason lol.

If Wolverine and Colossus were in the issue, they'd probably be called Claws and Metal

haha yeah it's just like that "wheels" joke from X1 the movie. I do like in the comics when Colossus is called Tin-Man though! I think that's a cute nickname.
Agreed, it’s a good name for her.
Yeah, I was just saying this in the NC thread (about a codename). Not sure I like this name though.
Sorry I didn't like the name she was born with.

Wildclaw and Heavy Metal would be cool alternate names for them
Crey Crey.
