SJ - thanks! You let me know when you're ready for those Hawkworld binds :)
Gerald - I won't lie and say I haven't thought about working at DC, if I had an "in". I do wonder how much of the content of the collections is dictated by royalty agreements and such, versus them choosing to or accidentally leaving issues out for whatever reason (like Action 600 not being in the Perez Wonder Woman omni.) I can see how it'd be frustrating to work there if you knew a collection should be a certain way but were told some issues couldn't be included.

Dick Grayson , You are absolutely right on the DC collections and the Royalty agreements, while its a good thing that DC has one of the best if not the best ( certainly of the big two) royalty systems when it comes to paying creators past and present for their work , it could lead to some problems, like stuff being left out because of said agreements. But don't let that stop you from applying for the job of head of DC Comics collections department! :P and of course as I said in the other forum , Great books as usual! And if I may ask, do you mind posting your maps for JLI and Booster Gold ? I would love your perspective on those!

About those... I haven't been able to come across my duplicate copies (probably in storage) so I'm considering holding off and doing another series in the meantime. I'll PM you with details! :)
Man I would love those jla and dr fate books. Great job.
Check out what Dick Grayson helped get done: Four Volumes of Hellblazer. I really appreciate it!

I've bound single issues but never a TPB, so I'm curious how it turned out. Is there significant gutter loss? Was there any prep you needed to do such as removing covers?

Gutter loss with TPBs isn't any worse than from floppies, and you can mix trades and floppies as well. I've bound a ton of trades and trades w/ floppies and it's never been an issue.
As far as prep, the covers had to be removed (I usually use a blow dryer and then if there's any stickiness from the glue on the first or last pages, I use some pieces of scotch tape to cover) and one of the trades was split as I recall, I usually use an exacto knife for anything like that.
I actually made a couple posts using the official Knightfall TPBs as a starting point outlining a bunch of the different things that are possible to do (move contents around, splice in issues, etc):
Part 1: http://comicbindingpro.com/post/126913753178/this-is-the-first-of-a-multi-part-post-that-uses
Part 2: http://comicbindingpro.com/post/126998831763/part-2-of-our-knightfall-custom-bind-anatomy-part
Great work as usual on Hellblazer Dick Grayson! And thanks for your maps for knightfall as well...i have the new trades and the missing floppies so its great to get confirmation!
Hey Dick Grayson any chance you can make a youtube video of your graphic novel collection? That would be a neat watch.
I'm looking to bind both Hitman tpbs and possibly the All New X-Factor tpbs. How would you map out the books?

Sorry I missed this post- I might be able to whip something up, though the way my room is arranged, getting good angles of the shelves can be though. I'll give it a shot and if the results are decent, will post.

I'm not familiar with All New X-Factor, but am planning a Hitman set. I'm still waiting on some issues to arrive so haven't worked out how many volumes (probably three) or where the breaks are yet, but the content I'm looking at is:
Demon Annual #2 (from Hitman TPB 1)
Demon #43-45 - though #42 is the start of the arc, not sure it’s necessary for Hitman, but I might throw in anyway. If you’ve already got a Demon set, you could leave this and the next issues out. I'm planning to use the new Demon trades being released
Demon #52-54
Batman Chronicles #4, Hitman #1-3 (from Hitman TPB 1)
Hitman #4-8 (from Hitman TPB 2)
Hitman #9-14 (from Hitman TPB 3)
Hitman Annual #1 (from Hitman TPB 2, not quite in the right spot in the trades, but it is one and done if I recall, so leaving it as-is probably wouldn't hurt)
JLA #5 - just the bit with Tommy
Hitman #15-20 (from Hitman TPB 4)
Sovereign Seven #26 - Tommy is in it... but it's absolutely awful so I recommend not including it.
Azrael #35
Hitman #21-22 (from Hitman TPB 4)
Resurrection Man #9-10
Hitman #23-36 & 1,000,000 (Hitman TPB 5)
Hitman #37-50 (Hitman TPB 6)
Hitman/Lobo, Superman 80-Page Giant 1, Hitman 51-60, Hitman/JLA (Hitman TPB 7)
All-Star Section Eight
The volume 1 trade doesn't include covers, so I'll track those down and print them out.
