Never mind Dora with a knife, how about Dora with BOOBS! :p

Really? A simple Dora the hot explorer joke would do just fine we here at CBR don't have to go so low brow allso kim possible is hotter.
Never mind Dora with a knife, how about Dora with BOOBS! :p
It was the first thing I noticed.
That actually looks somewhat cute.
I'm wondering if some internet troll is going to start complaining that this is feminist propaganda.
This looks like the kind of movie kids will love, and grumpy thirty-somethings will tear apart just because.
Judging only from the trailer, Isabela Moner seems to have pretty good comedic acting chops, for a seventeen-year-old.
I wonder if she'll turn to the camera and ask the audience what she should do at all during the movie. "We have to get over this big gap to find my parents. Should I try to jump over it or should I try to find a way around?"
The funny/bizarre thing is that College Humor did the same idea for a gag trailer and then made a multiple part series based on it because it was so popular. And now there's this. It's like Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount looked at College Humor's parody and in a huff said "Well, we can do that! Only for real!"
Looks like Benicio del Toro is voicing swiper.

I'm too old to remember the original cartoon (although I know I saw most of an episode somewhere down the line). That said, the movie does look interesting, like an Indiana Jones/National Treasure that all-ages okay (even if I'm pretty sure that the target audience is adults who watched the show as kids). Isabela Moner seems to be a good fit for the role (saw her in Instant Family and she did good).

Teen character (and modestly dressed, at that). Don't see what the big deal is.

I seriously doubt that there are enough male trolls who are also hardcore Dora the Explorer fans to get something like that started.

I remember that. Think I like the look of this one better; the College Humor one seemed kinda mean-spirited.
Well I don't know about you guys but I'm sold.
I'll die a little inside when I buy the ticket but this looks harmless.
well, that trailer exceeded my very low expectations. (isn't Michael Bay involved in this somehow? I thought there would be explosions....)

I hope so. if they didn't do that at least once it would be like making a "Doom" film adaptation without a single POV shot in it.

Michael Bay's assistant had to go on Twitter to reassure the Internet he had nothing to do with the Dora movie a while back.
The knife makes we sort of want a Dora/Crocodile Dundee cross over.
Yikes, this looks bad. In a talking down to it's audience kind of way...but then again, I guess that would be accurate? lol
Seems alright enough, I'm a few years too old to have watched the original series as a child but this is about what I expected when I heard it wasn't a joke. I doubt I'll see the movie, but it might be worth drinking through when it comes to Netflix.
My best friend's little girl, at nine, is probably starting to grow out of the Dora stage but she might be growing into an age where she would like this version. She loved "Mary Poppins Returns". Might take her to see this movie.
Benicio del Toro is voicing Swipper the Fox as well.
Benicio del Toro is voicing Swipper the Fox as well.
So he's an actual fox? I think it would be better if he was a thief nicknamed the fox. He could wear a black hat and mask carry a sword and maybe wear a cape
This is too weird yet endearing

I mean, that's what CollegeHumor did.
I have a newly 5 year old and 2 year old.
Thanks for the warning.

So, in brief, Dora's gone from a cute moppet to a fairly endowed teenage version of Lara Croft. I shudder to imagine what parents like Surf will go through when their kids demand to see this movie.

Not sure I see what the problem is.
That actually looks somewhat cute.
I agree, this looks really cute. And will probably have some parody in it. I'm mildly disappointed it is not weird looking (yet, there's still time).
And the manbabies focused on a teenager's breasts need to grow up. The actress is still a child playing a child character. That's gross.

I may grow old, my man, but I refuse to grow up! :p
I'm wondering if some internet troll is going to start complaining that this is feminist propaganda.
What are you talking about? Dora has ALWAYS been feminist propaganda. :p
I don't know why, but if I didn't know who Dora was, I'd say this would've been a decent plot for a live-action The Wild Thornberrys movie. :p
I used to watch Dora when I was younger and home from school sick. Not sure what to make of this, as I'm not really the target. It did get a few chuckles out of me, however.
I think the target is people who watched the show as children who are now in their late teens to early twenties, and might get some nostalgia from it. While the franchise has never really been inactive since it's inception I would say that the show's heyday was Fifteen years ago. That puts the former viewers in a sought after demographic. I don't know if this is a gamble that'll work, plenty of children's franchises have been rebooted in such a way but most of them skewed a little older than Dora.
There also was a series of animated funnies on the Youtube channel AOK a couple months ago, called Dora the Grownup in which Dora's a twenty-something who has misadventures in being inept at living an adult life. I thought the first couple episodes were funny, but the joke got old pretty fast. The vids got a couple million views though.
Heck, it looks like more fun than Tomb Raider!

"Y'know it COULD work..maybe not the Diego breaking dudes necks part, but everything else".
;)
I joke, but when I heard Danny Trejo was in this I half expected him to be playing Diego.
Finally. Dora's head doesn't look like a lemon.
She's actually looks cute.

I find it fascinating the one doing the complaining is calling someone a manbaby.
Wait a minute... Lost City of...Gold?
Why...

But does it have a giant mechanical bird you can fly in? No? That's what I thought! I'm glad I"m not the only one who remembers this show!

Huh? I'm confused. I'm mildly disappointed it's not weird looking because I love weird films. Not a complaint ... but okay. I guess more context was needed.
Sexualizing a child gets a pass these days I guess.

You will be happy to know that i am a huge fan of The Lost Cities of Gold. ;)
Sexualizing a child gets a pass these days I guess.
Okay, I finally got around to watching this trailer and I got to ask, in what way did any of that sexualize a child? The fact that the actress is a teenager with breasts? I mean her clothes are not revealing or sexy in any way, she isn't once put in a pose meant to titillate or arouse, she doesn't say anything flirtatious or has a guy comment on her looks, she just happens to be a normally developed teenage girl. There was nothing else to suggest any sexualizing was going on at all. If someone finds her exceptionally sexually arousing I'd argue it's more on them than anything shown in the trailer.
Cute actress though, got sort of a sweet, energetic charm I think fits the role.
And who is playing the dad? Cause I swear it's bugging me that I know him from something on TV but can't put my finger on.

She's 17. She's already legal some states.

Michael Pena is playing the dad.
