Well if a certain editor was around-he would have looked at those numbers and proceed to take over the book and chase off the writer.
Guess that is why he is a former editor that no one wants to hire.
This is only tangentially related but ....it's interesting that you say that.
I happened to be thinking about the Batman Secret Files - The Signal (Duke Thomas) comic i recently read and a particular scene / panel in the comic that significantly reduced my interest in the character before the comic even reached the halfway point in the story. I won't get into what happened here other than to say....i found it interesting that Static / Virgil found himself in a similar situation as The Signal / Duke within a similar amount of pages into the story and yet the Static writer presented Virgils conflict (and the conclusion of the conflict) differently when compared to the Signals book. Considering the books are marketed to a similar demographic i couldn't help but notice the contrast. Which one would i find more appealing based upon these "introductions" if they were my first exposure to the characters?
I wondered about power fantasies, the power of imagery, creative control and creators in general briefly.
I'll leave it at that.

Oh shit, looks like Daisy might be a bang baby!

Looks like she has some kind of vibration powers.

Ok now I’m really excited to see where things go from here because this changes everything.

Daisy has superpowers. Can't wait to see her team up with Virgil.

It looked like she was glitching out. Maybe she has cyberpathy.

I’m just glad about his house, I was so worried

Problem is that we never go to know Daisy as a person before she got her powers.
Now, she's just another pretty face with powers.
btw, I read Icon & Rocket #1. Gotta say: it wasn't worth the $3.99.
I want a refund.

it's NDI, they're all pretty faces with powers....
I say that to say, respectfully, the critique is pretty weak and kinda absurd. her having powers doesn't prevent us from learning about her; you are aware of the medium you're consuming, right? frfr can we do away with this weird narrative that characters need x amount of abitrary issues of them just generally existing before they can be allowed substantial developments? holocaust and that horn boy didn't need it, neither will any of the plethora of bang babies we're gonna see in this series, i don't see why Daisy does.

To be fair we never got to know Rocket, Icon, Kobalt, most of Blood Syndicate, Shadow Cabinet, Hardware and Xombi before we saw them. Virgil was the only fleshed out in less than 2 issues in the original Milestone run. Heck we didn't even know the origin of the gas.

For some odd reason black characters are not allowed that. Aqualad says hi. To be Batman, you just need one mini as Azrael proved.

@skyvolt2000
@Commonwriter
Man u guys would be horrid writers if you think every character with magical or scifi powers MUST first start with pre-powers story BEFORE they got their powers.
The entirety of Marvel's massive X-MEN says hello.
Flashbacks are criminal now or what?
Character reminiscing is bad?
A dual time story interweaving before and after a character got their powers in bad?
Character mystique is supposedly wrong now or what?
The greater vast majority of superheroes have been written is such manner where their pre-powers story and history comes later and/or is interwoven into the ongoing plot/story.
Anyway, to each their own.

No one is gonna do a review discussion thread for Icon and rocket #1?
-
I liked issue 2 but are they basically going to have Virgil not have a secret identity at this point? I don’t see how he possibly could, everyone knows who he is. Don’t know how I feel about that.

That’s one thing I don’t like about this continuity. Virgil just keeps using his powers where everyone can see him, and it’s bad enough his arch nemesis knows who he is.

It would normally in the Milestone thread or in its own thread.

Since I’ve always seen Virgil as DC/Milestone’s “Spider-Man” it feels kind of weird to take away his secret identity. Still the MCU has made open heroes popular, and we’ll see what happens once Virgil actually starts dressing up and calling himself “Static”.
