Forget Mulan, the Feds are coming for Disney now: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/disney-whistleblower-told-sec-the-company-inflated-revenue-for-years-2019-08-19
I mean, the timing does seem interesting. Yesterday news broke about alleged fraud at Disney to the tune of billions of dollars; Disney's share price has been cratering ever since. Then today the Spider-Man deal with Sony fell apart. Maybe Sony suddenly realised they had more leverage then they thought if it turns out Disney is just a paper tiger.
Disney will be fine this is the kind of thing that ends up with fines and some management getting fired. Disney is still producing a huge % of the product in theater and has numerous revenue streams. If any thing this is a good time to buy their stock.
Sony might be making a play but it might not have much leverage.

Yes, Disney doesn't have as much money as we thought they did, but calling them a paper tiger is a bit premature and isn't taking into account what Disney does have.
What does Sony have? They are putting all of their money on Spiderman and it is a major gamble, especially when in that Spiderman IP, you don't have that many sure properties. Peter Parker, Venom, Miles Morales, Carnage, and Gwen Stacy is really coming into her own. Oh, and they have freaking Morbius the Living Vampire, which in all honesty, we have no idea how profitable that can be or how it will do critically. As DC has taught us, a movie can make a lot of money in profit and still be a failure.
Morbius is actually rather important here. He represents the majority of characters in this, characters who may have their fanbase, but who despite their long history don't have a real proven track record. Let's not even get into that there may be dozens of characters who exist in a grey area and who could maybe even be used by Disney under the right conditions.
Now, to be fair, I think Sony has a point. The 50/50 split isn't going to work when Spiderman is pretty much all they have.

Disney's financial situation is more serious then you realise. Traditionally Disney has relied upon it's parks to compensate for any shortfalls in revenue from other departments. The revelation that Disney has been lying about their park earnings couldn't come at a worse time. The whole business is massively overextended from the Fox acquisition while at the same time pouring further billions into the development of Disney+. The truth is that Disney is getting desperate, you can see this with the way they have increased park ticket prices multiple times over the course of a year. The loss of Spider-Man from the MCU might just be the straw that breaks Disney's back.

Better companies then Disney have declined due to poor business decisions and a changing business climate. All of Hollywood is being threatened like never before by other forms of entertainment and other ways of holdings people's attention. Disney seeks to survive by consolidating their hold on Hollywood by acquiring Fox, but that just makes them the biggest in a small pond. Should Disney+ fail then the fate of Disney will be sealed, they will be forever surpassed by the tech in Silicon Valley and the game's in Tokyo. It will only be matter a time before Disney is broken up and it's IP sold peicemeal to the highest bidders.

How does anyone know that?
Comic book sales are not the defining key for anything to be successful. Folks really need to understand that.
Did we NOT learn from Blade? The guy with soon to be 4 movies. Something Hal Jordan, Barry Allen and ALOT of guys with longer runs can't say.
Or Guardians of the Galaxy? Black Panther?
Perhaps we should wait and see if Spider-Man is no longer in the MCU before we speculate on such things. The internet is in a spin but it seems they may have the wrong end of the stick.
News of Peter Parker's demise has been greatly exaggerated.
You got folks who HATE Marvel & Disney with a passion. Anything to badmouth them and try to blame SJW, POC, LGBTQ & women for this is open season for them.
Right now who has the keys? SONY. It's on Disney.

Disney will rebound. It won't be easy, they will lose some money, they need to restructure, but we have seen them go through this before and they always come back.
I'm sure that they have overextended themselves, but that doesn't mean that Disney is over and done.

Morbius isn't Blade. The Morbius movie isn't Blade.
There are tons of untapped characters within all of these properties, but Morbius isn't one of them. We have seen different people try and move him up on the popularity ladder and it never works. And nothing about the movie set to come out changes my opinion of this.

Disney has nearly gone bankrupt twice before and it can happen again. The difference now is that the parks won't be able to save Disney this time. Perhaps then Sony is quite wise to reject Disney's new deal, these looming financial problems will make Disney an unreliable partner to say the least
Spidey, Venom and Hulk are chart toppers.
So no.
Hulk is Universal, not Sony.

We don't know the size of the problem...yet.
But even if they have to scale down significantly, that doesn't mean they're down and out. They also have a larger presence than ever before.

Disney is the only movie company in history to consistently release billion dollar blockbusters on a predictable, annual cycle ... that's just Marvel Studios. They also got Pixar, a massive Princess IP they can milk every other year or so, and that's just the movie industry.
Disney getting desperate is laughable. They posted 12b in profit last year. A record high. Even if they lied and only got 10b it would _still_ be a record high ... how many companies do you know can shrug off 2 billion dollars and be like "meh, still a record win". The company is worth north of 130Billion. It's not going anywhere.

Fan fiction.
Walt Disney went broke once, ever. 1920, pre-Mickey Mouse. The company came close once as well ... in 1937 but he got a loan to finish .... Snow White. The corporation of Disney was founded in 1928. So one was the man ... one was within the first 10 years of operation. Those are so far removed from Disney has become its not even funny.
This idea of Disney being near bankruptcy like it was in the 1930s is lunacy.

They did not buy fox to survive they bought it to dominate. Nearly a third of the releases this year were from Disny owned properties. They are by far the most eagerly awaited streaming service coming. Pretty much any parent who can afford it will get it.Hollywood is being threatened and if Disney was just hollywood it would be a bigger concern. They are movie, tv, music, sports, publishing, real estate, etc. they are a diverse company who can take a hit here and cover it there. They might have a few bad statements but the doom you seem to be predicting is a long ways off.

Gog and BP have been in 4 movies with 5th ones already announced.
Also Flash has had two tv series and been in a movie more than most.
