Ultimately I think the X-Men should be split into teams like the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. There are too many damn characters. They also shouldn't focus on just one character and should focus on 2-3 in a team. It was just plain stupid in the X-movies that Wolverine took up most of the screen time.

It would be sick if the MCU X-Men had some build up to some cool event like Infinity War. I think House of M would be awesome and plz nothing from AvX.

But honestly, Rogue is my very favorite and then it's difficult to tier the next 50ish characters. The X-Men are one of only two franchises for me, that I love most of the characters designed

Let's be honest, the general public doesn't care about most x-men because most of them are boring and can't stand on their own. If Disney is smart they aren't going to put all their eggs on the X-men. The only ones who should be there and who could connect well with the extended universe are Wolverine, Storm and probably Cyclops.
