Most people think Bruce Wayne is boring.
Most people in this very narrow subsection of fandom who frequent this forum? Maybe.
Out in the real world?
No.

No, out in the real world too. I called my mom and asked her, she said yes.

Yes all the resentment towards Bruce exists on forums like this, which are a very small sample size.
Even here, a lot of the frustration towards Batman getting most of the favoritism from DC/WB is more nuanced than "Bruce is a sucky character who shouldn't exist."
OP Question -
Bruce, no doubt

I didn't say that most of the resentment towards Bruce exists on this forum - I'm saying only on forums like this does that resentment seem like a majority. There's more people who share this resentment who don't frequent this forum. But among the entire comics reading population and then some? The books wouldn't sell like they do if that resentment was the majority opinion.
From back in May 2021:

Dick's not gonna be Batman again.
I'm sure that at some point, DC will have somebody who wants to recycle that idea . . .

Nah. Did we recycle Ben Reilly when we got Miles Morales?

And since then, Ben Reilly has been back as Spider-Man again.
NOTE: This thread was started in September 2018 (well before Future State / Jace Fox took up the identity).
Batman's 100th anniversary is less than 21 years away.
Picture this:
It is the year 2039. Incredibly, DC has NOT further hard-rebooted its continuity the years between now and then.
Who should be wearing the cowl by then, and why?
With 98 people having voted,
* Bruce Wayne = 63 votes
* Damian= 21 votes
* Dick Grayson = 8 votes
* Someone else (please specify) = 4 votes
* DC itself will no longer exist by then = 2 votes

And at last check, there were no votes registered for "Doesn't matter who is behind the cowl, it'll still sell" yet.
