Why was Xavier alone? He’s going to a crucial public meeting with the president of Sokovia and he has no body guards or escorts, nobody standing by at the gate incase something goes wrong. I mean, where’s Magneto during all of this?
That felt particularly glaring to me. No leader of any nation just pops up without a bodyguard, a full entourage of people for that matter. It’s daft. None of the Council should be out and about without security. It’d be a bit dodgy even on Krakoa, but in another country? Daft.
I enjoyed the comic, particularly the art, but it’s obvious that All Is Not As It Seems. But I’ll be buying the second issue, it’s interesting, I want to see where they go with the set up.
I think this is the ideal book for people who haven’t enjoyed the Hickman relaunch. It felt the most conventional and like the X-Men of the past 10-15 years. It’s probably good to have one of those in the mix, but I’ll wait to see where it goes before buying any more issues.
I think it's exactly the opposite.
It's the most aligned with Hickman's idea so far.
In it's first issue X-force already explored two main plots:
1 - state building idea -- geopolitical repercussion of Krakoa, immigration, boundaries, defense forces, commercial agreements.
2 - no more deaths -- Domino's death activating the protocols and Xavier and his Resurrection plan being put at risk.

Considering that they can just resurrect anyone, maybe Xavier didnt care to have a boydguard bc he knows he ultimately is safe. Its not like he isnt gonna be waking up out of an egg

I get what you're saying, but if that's the case then why did he put so much effort into running away from his attackers as he did...?

You don't leave Cerebro technology and a powerful telepathic brain to humans. You could have a Red Skull situation.

I think something we need to take into account. Just because mutants know they can come back.
I highly doubt theyre walking around having this superiority complex about being able to be brought back. And i'm sure they don't want to die.
Being murdered is not an experience people want to go through. So to say mutants are just walking around not caring if they get killed or murdered is kind of a strange perspective in my opinion.

natural human reaction? Im sure he didnt want to die or deal with the pain

Yeah, exactly, so surely he'd have a bodyguard for the same reasons when travelling abroad? Like, if you can do something to prevent that kind of experience...y'know...do it.

Xavier is too full of himself, that is the problem.

And not just him dying, all the others killed and injured. The little girl seeing her mum killed for a start.
I’d kinda rather it be arrogance on his part, rather than a plot by Xavier to rile up the Krakoan populace and give him freedom to set up his defence force as aggressive he wants.

Yeah, see, this just gives me more cause not to trust this dude: either he's the dumbest arse on the planet or the scariest sociopath this side of ever! Neither of these are great prospects!

This is about HOW well does the writer tell the story of Xavier coming back.
"No one cares about the man in the box, the man who disappears."
"Because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call "The Prestige".

The art was nice. Part of the plot is a bit wonky. Domino going on an undercover mission getting caught and her team not realising something is wrong for a week? Or even a better form of communication?
Four people diving through the air and breaching Krakoa. They've better security on Krakoa, sorcerers and telepaths, atmokinetics, Caliban, time manipulators and a bunch of dudes with guns are able to breach their defenses?
Xavier running away is lulz the guy knows close quarters combat and gorilla warfare
6/10 for the art mostly and Black Tom
