it's extremely frustrating not being able to answer a lot of your issues about all this.
But I literally cannot answer most of the questions because the answers are also spoilers and 1) I hate spoilers 2) there's this thing called a Non Disclosure Agreement precluding any answers.
here is some math.
over 6 years i made 28 comments related to what is now this subject,
that averages out to roughly 4 comments a year (a little more). Each comment was made in response to a question like "What is is your MOST CONTROVERSIAL opinion about the DCU" or "What is the opinion that will have other fans come at you with knives?" to which the answer was always the same because it's the only such notion I really hold about DC comics.
Recently a couple of people compiled these comments, once again, spread over 6 years, as if they were a tirade or a rant and some people are freaking out about it.
That's their right, I suppose. But, frankly, there's nothing I can say that will put to rest the sort of paranoia that has been engendered here (and which I believe was intentionally created by the people in question). People will believe what they want, regardless of facts and regardless of assurances.
This is rumor control, not damage control. No damage has, as yet, been done.
Here, once again, are some facts:
I don't lie. Ever.
I don 't dissemble. Ever.
I don't equivocate. Ever.
When he appears under my pen, Hal will be the Hal you recognize.
Is Hal "safe?" I can't answer that.
Do I have an agenda towards diminishing or in any way tarnishing Hal? Nope.
I'm a writer of adventure fiction. No character, not the ones I "love" and not the ones I "hate," is safe with me. NO one is "safe" in my stories. No one. It wouldn't be an adventure if they were. Stakes are high. Pain is real. Injury is real. Death is very, very real.
Otherwise there's no risk and without risk there's no adventure.
Future State drops in a few weeks. A month after it's done, GREEN LANTERN #1.
I think most of you will dig it.
EDIT: If this helps, here is a link to a FREE indie comic I did that is sort of Green Lantern-ish.

I wasn't originally planning on checking out any of the Future State stuff, but you've hooked me with the Fury Road of it all.
I don't expect anyone to make it out in one piece. Just take it easy on poor Kilowog. ;)

I promise you, for what it's worth, no one is vaporizing Kil.

I had left Green Lantern due to what I perceived as poor writing and storytelling for so long. Things would happen but there didn't seem to be any depth to it. Just events. No character building. Then Jessica came along, but it wasn't enough to drag me back in. But now? Now I'm even more excited.
It's wonderful to have a writer who is a real professional about his work.

Now I just think you were looking over pictures of all active GL's and thinking, "who would look best with an eyepatch??" (btw, the answer is the Puffball Collective)

I've found some of his comments to be immature. But everyone on social media gets like that from time to time and I've seen worse things said.
Personally I've have kept such things to myself.

Is it me, or that guy next to Johnson could work as Dan Didio's stunt double?

I remember Dan a bit heavier, but I see it.
Speaking as a black fan who is apathetic to Hal, let me ask a question: would those of you who think he was better as Parallax have accepted it if it was a character you liked in that role?
This a very good question, I think I have better answer than most. I am Bishop fan and they did do this with Bishop unlike some of the other fans I was fine with Bishop being made "evil". The problem for me was they didn't execute the reasoning very well and the creators had no plans for him as evil character so it was wasted experiment. In comics we have bad guy to good guy turns all the time but reverse not so much, and DC in making Hal Jordan "antagonist"( killing Barry replacing him with Wally) pulled off two of greatest comic book movies ever.
In understanding the big picture I would be happy if one of my favorite characters became a big bad like that I think if left as is Hal Jordan/Parallax would have become one of the Iconic villains in comics right up there with Dr Doom, Joker and Darkseid. I thought Bishop villain turn could make him one of the major "antagonist"in the X-men franchise. Obviously no fan wants their favorite to be made a villain but I think every fan can respect if their favorite was bad guy it was well done and they were made into impactful villain.

I think the the poster was responding in agreement with the OP when said they don't care for the current Green Lantern series.
