I bought Event Leviathan.
I bought 2 issues of Checkmate then I stopped.
How can so many good ideas go to such utter waste?
With due respect, what good ideas?
This whole thing started off with Bendis taking every agency or terrorist group with a distinct identity and mashed them together into some nebulous evil organization, never bothering to reconcile the different identities or even how it was accomplished.
Bendis simply loves playing with spy stuff without really understanding it

It would've been a good chance of re-emphasizing what all these organizations do and how they stand out instead of dismantling them in favor of fighting what is, more or less, a Hydra stand-in.

Re-organizing the spy network in DC was a good idea. It was just carried out badly
Bringing back Checkmate was a good idea. It was just carried out badly.
Having Ollie and The Question working together was a good idea. It was just carried out badly.
That's the Bendis pattern. Good idea. Bad execution.

With all of the Spy talk, King did it 100% better with Grayson.
I mean Bendis could have use him or a time displaced version of him when he gave up the Nightwing mantle and when he was supposed to have the blonde hair!
DC if you're reading this hire me

You had both Tim Seeley and King involved with writing and plotting the stories, and those two combined did a good job.

Ah totally, my bad.
I always forget that Seeley was part of that title

While I enjoyed how Bendis wrote two of my favourite characters (The Question & Green Arrow)
I thought the plotline and premise was pretty cruddy....you know a comic is bad when you can't even finish the last issue.
I would like to see Bendis write either a solo Green Arrow or Question series, but I'll take a pass on the checkmate superteam and the Leviathan plotline.

While I'd tend to agree?
This is more on the "Possibilities..." level than the "Good Ideas..." level.

Bill Willingham did it better with Fables.
Hell, most everyone did it better, because they grasped the basic concept of the spy genre, in that it requires details, secrets, twists, etc.
All Bendis does is try to have some dramatic dialogue
"Oh no, Talia is worse than Mark Shaw! Who's ideas and execution were never pinned down!"
-
With those dialogues I wonder why Bendis is not writing Batman.

But his Batman Universe was great!
However; he may have be good in (some) miniseries
-
I dunno, I think Bendis has a weird Batman voice.

This came out last week so can someone explain how this new "spy scene" is looking exactly?
Leviathan is now like Hydra where it can be used as evil guys in any story and Talia is the current leader? Waller is the main opposition and good guy like Nick Fury? While Talia has done some bad shit I'm not sure if I'd say that Waller is less evil than Talia.
And what exactly Kamandi is doing now?
