Where they came from is kind of beside the point for the question at hand though isn't it?
After Gotham Central the detectives aren't seen much at all outside of stories penned by Rucka or Brubaker...which is kind of sad.

Some of Rucka's friends have used Romy and her boyfriend, but it was barely a cameo. And Michael Akins, commissioner, showed up briefly as Mayor in Tynion's Tec run, but he's been replaced too.
