Tony Stark: The Invincible Iron Man Appreciation 2022

He has been my favorite comic book character since I was 11 years old and I'm 44 now. To me he is the most compelling character in all of comics. From forming the Avengers to the Illuminati. He has been a very integral part of the MU. He's also a very flawed character. He's hubris gets him in trouble, but it also makes him push himself to make the world a better place. He suffers from addiction, heart problems, depression, anxiety and was even paralyzed, but he keeps moving forward. Always the smartest person in the room(or he always thinks he is!) Has created some of the greatest inventions and has back up plans for back up plans. Let's discuss the man, the myth, the legend Tony Stark/Iron Man.

I've really been enjoying playing as Tony in the Marvel's Avengers video game, so much so that I've been doing a Iron Man readathon, bought the Marvel Select Hulkbuster, and rewatched the first movie!

Yesterday I finished reading all of Fraction's run. Really enjoyed that, especially Splitlip, the final Mandarin arc, and especially Tony on the run + rebuilding his mind.

I'm actually trying to decide what to really read next I guess? I don't want to go into the Marvel NOW! run right away, and maybe read something older. I'm not really sure how to tackle the original comics. (I don't think I can read the entire thing, but I also don't wanna miss the little things like character evolution or development.) Suggestions welcome.

Are there any good mini-series I can find? Could I read Iron Man's appearances in GoTG for a better transition from Fraction to Kieron Gillen?

[COLOR="#000080"]I'd start with the Dave Michelinie/Bob Layton run. That's the run that really defined Tony. They have an Omnibus out that collects a good bit of it.

If you can't get the omnibus then I would get these older runs:

Armor Wars I
Armor Wars II
Iron Man: Director of SHIELD by the Knaufs.

Also get Extremis. That's a good six-issue mini.[/COLOR]
