Matrix is still my favorite Supergirl! *ducks* And no one drew her better than Gammill and Grummett! :o

I love the hair, but the suit itself is a bad idea. A flying woman wearing a skirt just feels wrong.

I think it can work depending on the skirt length.

I like skirts.

Same here :).
I like skirts too, doesn't mean it's a good idea for a flying character. I want Wonder Woman to have a long skirt rather than pants but only if she doesn't fly.

I've never really seen it as a problem as far as Supergirl's flying is concerned, at least.
Usually that costume was shown to have the blue leotard go all the way down, hence no inappropriate panty shots. :p
Also, Matrix always presented as older, despite being naive. There wasn't a creepy factor (at least that I was ever aware of!) like there often seems to be with Kara.
Why is Helen Slater, who played Linda/Supergirl, only second billing?

I'd say because Faye Dunaway was already a big name actress in the 80's; Helen Slater only had a handful of credits.

I think in general Supergirl's look is fairly wholesome even with a skirt. The one design that seemed rife for panty shots (the Post-Crisis mini-skirt) she was depicted as wearing shorts.

I'd agree, overall her look is pretty wholesome - it's the skeevy fans with a penchant for the "barely legal" that pollute it! lol

Helen Slater got second billing because she was an unknown actress at the time and Faye Dunaway was not, but I think Supergirl should be portrayed by an unknown but good actress, because Supergirl is a girl and girls don't have much experience since they are young and hence unknown. Helen Slater was the one thing they did right in this movie.

Yep, same with Chris Reeve in STM. He's behind Brando and Hackman

You don't really want a known actor to play Superman, unknowns that look the most like Superman or Supergirl are the best you don't want Sabrina Carpenter to play Supergirl, she has blonde hair and all, but Sabrina Carpenter wants to be Sabrina Carpenter and sell her music, but if I didn't know who Sabrina Carpenter was, I would say she would make an excellent Supergirl. What do you think?
