Until I get to the last collection it takes some time. Maybe Image is faster than me? The alternative is always digital...
In March an colored Omnibus for issues 1-50 is going to be released supposibly. Hopefully that means we’d get a second with issues 51-100, 101-149, and then maybe 150-200 later on down the line. Omnibus 5 would be a whole collection just on its own of the Downing era 201-250, and the 5th would be Spawn Ressurrection 1, 251-300 if Todd would release them like that.
But to me, the Omnibus would be worthless without Violator 1-3 and Spawn Bloodfued not included. Those stories belong within the issues 1-50 range.
I wonder how he’s going to get around the whole Angela thing...

Some people would call this a spoiler.

I wish I had never sold my first 50 issues. But at the time I lost interest, because It was dragging along.

The first 10 or so issues of Spawn were ok. But from around issue 10 to issue 80 the series dragged like hell (pun fully intended).
The pace picked up when Urizen showed up.

I was a late bloomer into Spawn. My first issues were issues 65 and 66 which came out around the movie. So, I was an ongoing collector from issue 65 onward and did a massive backtracking to fill in all the gaps, lol.
But yeah, like the other poster said, there was a lot of dragging of story going on in a spawn in those early issues. For me the drag was between issues 26-50 I think when I look back through those old issues.

Agreed. Issue #10 was a most enjoyable reading experience (IMHO):

Now I wonder if people will complain about too many Hellspawns running around I mean hellspawns are suppose to be an army

The problem isn't too many hell-spawn, I like their distinct designs.
But it'd be nicer if they show how their power-sets differ from one another.
Unless, you know, if they just have the same power-sets.

Well there are a race of hellspawn with different fighting styles so does that count?

I saw the movie in theaters and loved the animated series (I wish it was available on Blu-ray). However, I never read Spawn before. I just ordered the color Compendium 1, and I can't wait to finally read it from the very start!

Welcome aboard.
Please do post a review of Compendium 1 when you are done.

Yeah, I like the weapon difference in Medieval Spawn and Gun Slinger Spawn, but the others might need some different styles,
the Plague Spawn looks really different from other Spawn actually.
