2Pac's hardest song ever, on his coldest album ever. Don't let anybody tell you different.
Mans was on fire this session, the second verse as a shoutout cut alone doesn't have an equal. Solo artists and group members number about 40 and flowed that shit. Amazing record.

Been a tough 12, 14 months of losses in Hip-Hop. RIP Coolio. A song and video about back in the day, is itself now a project from back in the day.

Couple of RIP's to catch up. RIP Hurricane G, she was the female voice on Tonight's the Night. Her solo came out just outside of golden age but this was her debut. There was a brief period that started before but overlaped more of the sexualized female rappers. RAGE, BO$$, later Marvelous, and Hurricane G kicked it off in that group, that were more street than Lyte, Latifah and Monie before them. Gloria Rodriguez was 52

RIP to Revrend Calvin Butts who passed a week or two ago. Outside of New York the Hip-Hop youth saw him in a less favorable light. Rather than use his standing to bring up long standing systemic ills or garner symathy or proport change he chose to point the finger and utilize a gimmick. This man organized the infamous steam roller stunt and in the process cementing himself in Hip-Hop history. The stunt did work but in reverse, he might have claimed to not be against 'rap' and instead the 'thugs' but behind the wheel of that steamroller, he looked pretty anti-rap, even if it was as a corrupting influence. Got his words and likeness at the start of Bone's debut album.
