The Monkees. There! I said it! Why they're not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is an unforgivable crime against music!
Yes! I have heard the reasons why they shouldn't be and they're garbage.
They were the first live-action group I ever liked (I liked the Archies first, but I always think of them as cartoon characters :) - I discovered both groups on Saturday mornings back in the late'60s/early '70s).
BTW, there was a girl in my 4th grade class who was in love with Michael Nesmith, which I found very amusing and used to tease her constantly about it.

Especially as they had some credibly great original tunes such as this one:

Telling people you liked The Donny and Marie Show was a no-no 40 years ago (though I never had a problem telling anyone Marie Osmond was pretty adorable).

Yep. We're not talking Milli Vanilli here.

Ironically, that show was how I first became aware of the term "rock 'n roll" (though I would come to discover that Donny Osmond was NOT its most representative practitioner).

Heh. No he wasn't, BA. Well, he did say he was only a little bit rock 'n' roll, not a lot. :D
Never really cared for his music or his brothers, but I have to admit I did watch their early '70s cartoon (though The Jackson 5 kicked its butt).

Yeah, and his singing was pretty fabulous on that track ("Ambitious," I believe).

The Osmonds always were like some Earth-Three doppelganger of the Jacksons. :D

Now while there is absolutely no embarrassment in liking this particular artist's music, claiming this as your favorite solo track of his after he left his legendary original band could be potentially embarrassing:

Hey, it was a whole lot better than My Love or, to a lesser degree, Wonderful Christmas Time. My favorite? Either Live and Let Die or Maybe I'm Amazed.
Is Weird Al Yankovic considered unhip?
No. Weird Al transcends all earthly notions of hip. He is simultaneously eternally hip and beyond hip.

When this song came out I thought it was the same group that did "Barbie Girl" but I guess it's different people
