Rumor is they fear it will be compared to Jungle Book and not do well so they took the safe money and sold it to Netflix I think it might get a very limited release in a handful of theaters for awards considerations but yeah going to Netflix.
Disney has undue influence too. If they don't want it, it goes.
I think Disney will release both Dark Phoenix and New Mutants and use no influence over that but them going streaming is a real chance IMO especially New Mutants.
If the movie turns out to be turd among the industry circles before it gets released, Disney will cancel it to spare the story line any long lasting damage when they want to use it in the future. Phoenix is screwed in movies.
Fox Kinberg will probably mess it up because he cannot write. I don't care how much lessons he got from Claremont about the movie.
Disney will mess it up in the future by making it either a comedy or make it not as complicated as it should be.You know, dumb it down. I don't feel Disney will want to redo the story unless they change so much about it to the point it is unrecognizable.
In the end, it is a loss for us fans. The only chance they had to get the story right was in X-Men 3.
They can’t legally do that from what I heard. Even if they owned Fox.

It does not have to be legal. I used the term undue influence for a very good purpose.
There is always The Dark Phoenix Saga part I-IV from the 1992 cartoon. That is the best adaption, we are ever going to get.

Unless you have some proof move along. We aren't doing this again.

AMEN!lllll
FINALLY. I can look forward to an X-Men movie.
This is excellent news, both for movies and comics. Marvel has a reason to care about X-Men again!!
Give better depictions of the characters & I'm good.
A better Storm, with a darker-skinned African actress.
Sabretooth, who had 2 versions & neither were good, imo.
Jackman was no Wolverine.
Rogue could be better.
Don't hero change Mystique or make her a reptile. Lol
Not crazy about RyanPool.
Etc.
Adaptations will be different & the past films were a different take, which is cool. Now I would like to see a reboot with more similarity to the source & more characters getting exsposure.
