Do we know why Tony's chosen his team yet? Because they really don't seem to make a damn bit of sense
From what I'd recall, he chose them because Korvac would have killed Rhodey if he'd gone straight to the Avengers, so he had to get some people Korvac wouldn't expect him to recruit and would thus ignore or underestimate.

Correct. Korvac had Rhodey as a hostage to prevent Tony from raising the alarm, so Tony had to recruit allies below Korvac's radar. When Rhodey escaped he called for back-up, but Korvac had already departed at that point so Tony decided they couldn't wait for the others to get mobilized and get there--so he took his team and launched. We may see the Avengers or other heavy hitters join the story later when/if they manage to catch up, but right now Tony, Rhodey and Patsy have to make do with the group they've got.
To be fair, its not a horrible group. Three of them are experienced Avengers; Gargoyle is reasonably powerful; Scarlet Spider has all the same abilities as Spider-Man, just not all of the experience; Misty Knight has held her own alongside heavy hitters with the Heroes for Hire and the Defenders for a long time. Its really just Frog Man and Halcyon who seem to be the weak links--and Halcyon has been pulling his weight so far.

Poor Frog Man can’t get any respect. I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if he somehow saves the day or does something huge in this arc. Glad to see someone other than Spencer or Hopeless using obscure characters. These guys are the real Secret Avengers. Plus I like the villains Korvac has recruited. Cantwell is making good use of some of these little used characters. Been enjoying his run so far.

I'm hoping they stick around pass the Book of Korvac. If Tony wants to reinvent himself and build a new life, some new friends would be welcome.

"Frog Man died burning, but Kovac never saw it coming!"
Really? That's the rational?
Don't get me wrong, they're largely good characters, but they don't really serve well as foils to Tony or the plot

The rational is Tony needed help in a hurry and this is who he could get since he was cut off from his regular allies.
I expect Frog Man and at least some of the others will be focused more on clearing the path for Tony by dealing with Korvac's followers like Blizzard and Unicorn, so that the heavy-hitters can focus on Korvac.

This is the closest any creative team has gotten to nailing 1990s Ben Reilly, so I do not care one iota about WHY and am just enjoying that there he is.
Also, it was implied Frog Man is only there because he works for Gargoyle.

Not much happened, at least not on Tony's end. There was a dogfight in space, though, with Tony's motley crew going up against Korvac's forces, and the end had Patsy/Hellcat asking what happened to Tony after Moondragon helped her tap into her psychic powers again.

Thanks for the heads up.
