Even a much less experienced tyke:

Yes, I call that PIS. If the plot hadn't demanded for Storm to win, the fight would've been over in literally a second.
Storm is a moving target who will move in unpredictable patterns to avoid an attack like these from Scott. Storm was consistently shown to be able to beat super powered characters while she was powerless: She defeated Crimson Commanda (who has stats similar to Captain America and Black Panther), she was able to stand her ground against hordes of demons armed with only a knife or a sword (she did this on multiple occassions), she was able to defeat Callisto (who has stats like Wolverine PLUS Callisto is skilled in every form of H2H combat with the ability to see how a battle unfolds and automatically come up with several strategies to win the fight), she beat Wolverine in a sword fight sparring match, etc.
Cyclop's powers are so one-dimensional that a very formidable H2H foe could get around his blasts to take the battle up close and personal to him without getting tagged.

If Storm can beat someone on the level of Cap/BP, that's pure BS. She's not on their level, never has been. And you really want me to believe she's faster than Cyke's optic blasts?
I knew it Storm fans have no idea what PIS actually means. HINT: It goes both ways.

Yeah People would follow Scott to Hell cause they know he'd Get them back out again. I respect two Fictional Leaders above all others. One being John "Hannibal" Smith the other being Scott "Cyclops" Summers, Both are extreme planners. But to me Cyclops is the greater Leader cause when shit goes off plan he can wing it and improvise with the best of them. That's what makes him so dangerous. Even Captain America recognized this. I loved the A Team growing up, And X-Factor lead by Cyclops where just that. A Five Man team capable of getting shit done. All it took was five well trained people. Think of how many guys the X-men generally have on a team and yet this dude was always able to get it done with just five or six of them. That's leadership.

To me, Storm will always be the boss.

What Claremont did with Storm when he took her powers was made the character with the ferociousness to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Wolverine. For instance, when she beat Crimson Commando, she didn't know if she would survive the fight prior to taking him on, but then Logan, who would try and get her revenge if she were killed, she wasn't sure if he could beat the Commando either. On top of it, Storm was shown to have Wolverine-level beserker rages in some of these instances.

Magneto (AOA), Cyclops and Storm
Storms that good, she's always been his superior. That's why he needed her power during schism and how she was able to beat him without having power. How truly awesome is that?
Leading is not about "beating" an other teammate. Leading is not about "powers"
If it was, I would have voted for Jean, my favorite character. But I voted for Scott, because he is, indeed, a better leader than Storm. She's a close second, but no, she's not the best leader. If you weren't blinded by your unconditional love for Storm you would admit it.

Could not have put the words better. its not about power, beating or punching. Cyclops is an amazing technician so is Magneto. Storm is a great leader but if you are going into battle of limbs and life to be lost, you would want Cyclops on your side to make the decision and plan out the strategy that could lesson the fatalities.
-
Cyclops and Storm are both good field leaders. Emma and Xavier are good at statecraft. Xavier and Magneto are good at both. Cyclops and Emma complimented each other that way.
-
I respect and love each of them and have no doubt that each of them wants the best for the mutants and the X-mens. But I know that the leadership of the X-mens is more a burden than a privilege and know that no matter what sacrifices they make as leaders and the experience they gain are worthless because every time a new leader is chosen the old one is immediately throw in front of the bus or is portrayed as aincompetent amateur for the next one shows up as a superior.
I choose Cyclops because he made the mutants and the X-men overcome the worst moment of their lives and for being willing to do what is necessary to save them even if their reputation was thrown into the mud something that Storm and Xavier would not do but that does not mean do not respect Storm or Xavier or recognize their abilities as leaders. I just believe that after everything they did with Cyclops (and Emma) they deserved a better fate but life is just the same, history decides who is hero or villain and she does not always tell all the facts.
-
I prefer Xavier or reformed Magneto to a Scott/Emma diarchy.
-
I love Storm, but everything you've posted about Scott so far doesn't actually prove that he's a worse leader than her. He had a legitimate extinction crisis on his hands, with enemies on all sides, and pressure from every angle. We can break this down in many ways, but at the end of the day, Cyclops is the best leader the X-Men have/had.
Correction 'The Best' would be Logan. The Greatest would be Cyclops.
-
Storm or Cyclops are the two that come to mind when you say 'X-Men leaders'. I never really considered Xavier a leader of sorts, more of a mentor, more so in the earlier days, it was always others given the role as leader by Xavier when on the field of battle. So Xavier never really comes to my mind as a leader, not in the same way as say Cyclops or Storm
I would say Cyclops but only pre-Apocalypse possessed Cyclops, back when he was more of a boy scout and under Xavier's guidance. Back when Cyclops was unsure of his abilities to lead, his ability to show weakness but also proving he was capable he was a modest cyclops.
