not really feeling the line up...sorry. what is the dynamic between those characters? it feels extremely arbitrary. Just some X-Men.
Duggan's work was also quite mediocre so far. I don't have a lot of hope for this comicbook. Sorry, for raining on some parades...

We'll find out when the book comes out.

We're used to it.
and what is an interesting one? Synch and Laura maybe. Everything else BLAH!
That's fair for your opinion, but to say there's no dynamic isn't really accurate.
-
Do you want me to make you a map? I'm not doing that work for you, but there quite a few relationships between these characters.
Agreed.
I loved the relationship Jean and Laura started to build in Red and look forward to more of that. Lorna and Jean, and Scott, go waaaaaay back.
Rogue versus Malice-Polaris was some of my favorite stuff.
I can see Ev being somewhat of a protégé to Scott in terms of tactical skills and planning.

Tini did say that her Gala issue of Excalibur was about breakups and make ups, so maybe the break up refers to the team being reshuffled. I wouldn't mind Gambit and Jubilee leaving with Rogue, Howard hasn't been using them very well.
I am happy that Sunfire is there, but Duggan is going to have to explain a lot about why he is living in Krakoa and why he accepted the position of X-Man when he has said repeatedly that he doesn't want to be on the team.

I don't have hope for this book. But I'm all here for a positive surprise! Marauders was one of the worst books for me of the recent re-launch. I really wanted to like it but just couldn't get through 30 pages every month. Hence, I don't think the team dynamic will be more interesting than BLAH!
I also think in 2021 a X-Men team should be a lot more diverse on many levels...
-
Regarding dynamics:
-Cyclops and Jean are a couple
-Cyclops, Jean and Polaris were in-laws for a time
-Rogue and Sunfire were Uncanny Avengers
-Polaris and Sunfire were Horsemen of the Apocalypse together
-Cyclops, Jean and Laura were on the same team when the O5 were in the past
-Laura and Synch were in the Vault
-Rogue was already in X-Men teams with Cyclops and Jean.
So, suddenly, interesting dynamics:
-Cyclops and Jean are experienced leaders with their feet on the ground
-Rogue and Sunfire are more hotheaded
-Polaris can sometimes be a wild card
-Synch has a lot of experience in the Chamber
-Laura adds a cooler and more analytical factor
In my opinion what the team lacks the most is a villain who adds a bit of spark but if Sunfire is especially jerk he can work to create conflict.
I think everyone here gels well except for Sunfire as the outlier but honestly his abrasive personality is whats needed to spice up the dynamic. We dont really have a whole lot of him interacting with the rest other than Rogue. I really like this team bc there are so many new (and dormant) relationships primed to be explored and developed here. Laura and Rogue, Polaris and Scott, Jean and Sunfire, Synch and everyone. Im pumped!
I agree with you but Rogue and Wolverine are more prickly personality-wise than being given credit, So it is a little more than Sunfire to add spice. I would like to see Rogue, Jean and Polaris flex their leadership muscles as team members as well, meaning that Cyclop's decisions can be questioned and other characters can be shown as competent not just side characters.
I hope Sunfire gets a ton of focus, He goes too long without being on the X-men I hope he gets some good relationships so he can be tied to the franchise a little more. The best thing would be Wolverine and Nightcrawler type of strong friendship.

Pretty funny that there's a group of people expecting the book to be crap due to Marauders and another group expecting it to be good due Duggan's work that isn't Marauders.

I mean... given Everett's 500 years experience, Scott should be a protégé to him!

Laura was also in X-men Red that Jean led

Are people forgetting rogue had sunfire powers?

I personally think the problem with Marauders, which is good, but not great, is that Duggan is better at humor and heroism than intrigue. His worst comic is by far Infinity Wars, which is where he got the weirdest. But Cable, Deadpool, and Uncanny Avengers are great, for example. I think X-Men fits his writing better than Marauders.

Rogue made out with Polaris' dad.

Honestly, as long as Pepe Larraz is on this book, Nobody is going to care about the writing.

Jean, and possibly Scott, also made out with Laura's dad.
