Happy birthday, Superman
Today is April 18th, wasn't it?

Action Comics #1 came out on April 18, 1938. In 1938, it cost only 10 cents which is equivalent to $2 dollars in 2019.
On August 24, 2014, a copy graded 9.0 by CGC was sold on eBay for $3,207,852 it is the only comic book to have sold for more than $3 million for a single original copy.

While the original physical comic book was almost certainly in existence by April 18th, 1938, it's way more likely that the book wasn't available to the masses until the week of May 3rd that year.
However, due to the earlier date being listed in the formal lawsuit at the time, it gained credence and so now April 18th is the official date.
And so:
Happy birthday Clark! 83 years young, Superman!
Let's see what your 84th year has in store for you!

Really $2? I thought it was closer to $8 in 2018 money.

Happy birthday to Big Blue. Guess it was too much to hope for an acknowledgment from DC, but at least we’ve got some Superman comic releases this week to look forward to!

April 18th is the date ACTION was registered with the Library of Congress, not the date it went on sale.
I'd rather think that Superman was born on that fateful night when Jerry Siegel thought him up and then ran over to Joe Shuster's house to tell him about it the next morning. Was that in 1933 or 1934? Or was that simply an urban myth?
You could always say Superman's birthday is on February 29th.

That's when it came out? That's all I needed to hear! (hops in time machine)

Here's to the best looking 83 year old around, happy birthday Clark!

Another happy birthday to the greatest hero ever on the printed page.

Doesn't DC trot out an actual celebration for "Batman Day," complete with coordination with comic shops?
At least this forum exists for Superman Day. Keep the dream alive!

Hmmm, you might be right. Something is wrong with the inflation calculator.
