Yes!
Old enough to remember Mr Hooper.
This is when nobody but Big Bird could see Snuffy.
The "street" (actually looked like my block), back then it pretty much consisted of Big Bird's backyard behind construction-site doors and trash can, the main 123 stoop, the courtyard (with the fire-escape and tire swing), Hooper's store and the "Fix-It Shop" run by Luis and Maria at the other end, that was the entire set.

Although I think its grown and gotten more colorful since?
Grover, Grouch, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Burt & Ernie, Sherlock Hemlock, the Count, Reporter Kermit, were regulars.
This was well before Tickle-me-Elmo was a thing, at least I have no memory of him.
Humans were; Mr. Hooper, Gordon, Susan, Bob, Luis, Maria, Dave (edit:looked it up Linda was the deaf woman), the guy with to many cakes falling over, the mad number painter guy LOL! were all regulars.
Oh and one day two worlds collided and this happened ...!

Is Lothar the Grouch still canon?
And is S.A.M. officially part of the Marvel U?
Anything that happened after that I have no idea.

Glad the show is still running, pretty amazing!

Bert and Ernie were my favorite. I was sort of too old for the show but my youngest brother used to watch it.
I was 3 when it debuted and my mother assures me I watched the premiere. I definitely grew up watching it. Bert and Ernie gave me a lifelong love of sketch comedy.
Loved the trippy animations and songs, Mr. Hooper, Roosevelt Franklin, Snuffleupagas and especially Grover.
I was out before Elmo showed up, though. Probably for the best.
I was 4 in 1969. Prime age for Season 1.
Yeah absolutely. Sesame Street was broadcast on this side of the Atlantic as well. I used to watch it alongside all the British kids TV shows like Rainbow.
Cookie Monster still cracks me up today:

Ditto, grew up *riveted* by the "Mr. Snuffleapagus is imaginary" plotline and then little me was so excited when it was revealed that he wasn't Big Bird's imaginary friend.
Remember seeing the show often on when I was young. Good times. Even as an adult, they're still pretty entertaining.
I watched a few of the newer episodes and it seems like the new characters are getting most of the screen time now. It's mostly Elmo and every once in a while they throw in big bird and burt and ernie.

LOL this is like some movie plot I grew out of before it ended, so I never saw how it played out.
The terrific gag was he would always wander off, before the human showed up.
So how did it go that the humans finally see him?:D
Basically, Big Bird plotted to call Snuffy when the adults were around with a codeword. It failed the first time, but eventually succeeded. Everybody apologized to Big Bird for doubting him.

I remember everyone in this picture except the muppet behind Prairie Dawn and Cookie Monster. I have no idea who that is.
