I'm going with 185-215M domestic and 350-400M foreign. Can't see it make more than WW overseas and don't think it can beat Doctor Strange's domestic. I'd be happy to be proven wrong but can't see it make more than 650M tops worldwide. Don't think it will flop but hope it's not a generic action movie either.
I wouldn't be surprised if it does surpass WW's worldwide gross simply because of how Infinity War ended - ppl will be curious in how she plays a part in defeating Thanos and if they aren't curious they might just go see for the sake of it because March is Women's history month and a lot women would want to celebrate that with a big action movie.

Plus it’s all but guaranteed she’s gonna be in the A4 trailers so that exposure alone should give her BO numbers a decent boost too

Yeah, I have a hard time seeing it surpassing WW too. Maybe globally. But domestically? $400 M+ is not easy to achieve, even for MCU. I say $250-300 M.
If it turns out to be a mediocre or just a good movie Marvel Studio's reputation of turning out middling movies will cushion it from flopping. The messaging for both the release dates of the trailer and the movie will create momentum for it even if it turns out not to be just mediocre.
Marvel did drop the ball by letting Wonder Woman come out first. Many are going to look past the female angle and see the movie for what it is. If it's mediocre like the rest of the marvel movies, people will say so. How many people called Black Panther a masterpiece because Marvel tried to sell it as such. I can't find anybody. Black Panther was above mediocre , more middling/just a good movie and many said so.

Trying to figure out if her possible past is real or not is very Total Recall.

The thing with Wonder Woman is the remarkable stamina it had. After two months, WW was still climbing steadily at the box office where other movies had flatlined. Captain Marvel has 60 days or so before Avengers: Endgame is rolled out, and I'd expect that to largely kill CM's momentum. Who knows, it might help the momentum if CM's appearance in A4 is inspiring enough to make people go see a two-month-old movie. But by May 24 you also have another strong female movie in Aladdin, so I think Captain Marvel has a tough time sustaining momentum like Wonder Woman was able to.

LOL. "If it's mediocre like the rest of the marvel movies, people will say so"... Except that no one said that about the rest of the Marvel movies. At most you can complain that it's mediocre yet people will call it great, ok, that's your opinion. But acting like Marvel movies being bad is a popular opinion among the public is just a complete lie.

It’s interesting that the main thread in response to the teaser trailer principally seems to be discussing the likely financial performance of Captain Marvel.
I sympathise, I didn’t find it all that inspiring, either :) I guess my main reaction is that I liked Jude Law’s dumbfounded expression. And his contact lenses.

Hmm, Disney tripping up on itself, yet not really because they don't quite lose either way. Might be some Poppins spillover too.

I know alot of people who loved Black Panther. Yea some people didnt think it was more then a adequately made movie. But tons of people thought it was amazing and went and saw it multiple times. And this is despite the movie having subpar CGI compared to most Marvel Movies. People would even say the CGI was bad in parts and then praise the rest of the movie. Most of the negative response was to Killmonger. Some didnt like how people sympathized with him on some level. If you had said you thought it was mediocre that's fine but the evidence doesnt support your theory that BP and all Marvel movies are mediocre. Boxoffice and audience reviews aswell as critics are all on the other side of your arguement

The entirety of the third act was rubbish, especially the so-called "showdown" in the dark between T'Challa and Killmonger. Rubbish.
The oft-praised casino scene was nothing impressive, either.

I've only seen BP the once so far, but certainly at the cinema I felt it had some of the best pacing of the Marvel movies, had a consistent tone, and it did a lot of worldbuilding, too - the MCU's Asgard never really got fleshed out, and the Guardians' worlds also lacked detail. It's not my favourite Marvel movie but I thought it was good. It's picked up a certain amount of Avatar-like backlash (Cameron's Avatar that is) because when you get a film so phenomenonally successful and highly praised, people who thought it was just mildly enjoyable will feel its praise undeserved and will talk it down to counteract the people talking it up.

I think Black Panther is better than Avatar, when it comes to the story part. Avatar was beyond atrocious for a plot.
-
Oh, I think it's better than Avatar - Avatar was too long, and though I enjoyed it I think seeing it twice was quite enough for me.

If im.being honest none of the action blew me away. Its was the acting,Story,Costume and set design that made the movie. The world building was top notch. The water fall challenge scene between Tchalla and Mbaku was one of my favroite scenes in any movies. The costumes the chanting, and then the grounded no power fight was the best in the movie. Though I did like the jungle scene where the only light came fro. Muzzle flashes as tchalla took them out. The choreography was whatever but the artistic choice to show him through light from muzzle flash was cool. Kinda a strobe light effect. Too bad the fighting itself wasnt as creative
