This is just strange. There must be something the story is missing. Making Wayne Manor into an Asylum? What? The Academy book - hey, if it's like Morning Glories then ok.
-
I can't wait for the forthcoming Batman titles, "The housewives of Gotham", "Batman in space", and "Batsy the friendly Bat of Gotham".
-
It's almost like someone at DC hates how popular Batman is, and is trying to make us hate Batman through overexposing him in every single way possible.

Too bad it seems to be backfiring.

""Arkham Manor" -- written by Duggan and with art by Crystal -- follows the story of Wayne Manor's makeover into the new Arkham Asylum,"
W.T.F DC!?!?!?!?!?

[QUOTE=exile001;254032]Yeah, I'm really not okay with Bruce's public links to Batman at all.
Academy, meh. Could go either way. Maybe DC have decided we need to continue with one Robin per year and now Bruce has an inexhaustible supply.

Sort of like Umbrella Academy for Kid Sidekicks.
That might actually be fun.

Not sure what to make of Arkham Manor... but do I like the creative team on Gotham Academy, so I'll give that a shot. (though I would love it if Becky ever steps in to draw an issue or an annual at some point, or do some covers).

Will definitely give Gotham Academy a shot because I relate to teen books in particular, and I'll give Arkham Manor a shot depending on the reviews.
I am surprised by this announcement though; I was expecting different announcements from DC e.g. Cyborg and Metal Men, Shazam, or Gail Simone's secret project.

I'd buy it! :p

Are we supposed to recognize these two?

I have to say, if they are going to add new Batman books, this is the way to do it; novel directions, novel creative teams.
I'd rather they try to revitalize more needy sections of their universe - the Dark line, for instance, is moldering in mediocrity - but these sound good, and Doyle is to be praised for bringing a little bit of risk taking into the line.
Between this and the novel "Grayson" series, Doyle seems to be a godsend to those of us who like tonal diversity in the line.
All the best.

I get the impression that this will be mostly new characters.

Now that you mention it, Batman in Space could be a fun title...
Regardless though, this sounds like both books could be great fun. Especially with the strong creative teams.

When DC sees that putting Batman in the title helped sell 50k units of Joker's Daughter for $5, with no incentives, I think they can still milk the name.
