What a legend though.
Imagine sending in an audition tape at 88 years old and getting a role in one of the biggest movies ever and one of hte biggest "black" movies ever.
Lived life to the end.

I mean doesn't it feel like just another thing against this movie? No T'Challa, no hype, everyone sounds like they are going through the motions, Coogler seems worn out, and another person from the movie passed

In all fairness, Mrs. Steel lived a full life unlike poor Chadwick. God I can’t even imagine what Coogler is going through right now.
So was she not in the current movie?
The press releases made it seem like she wasn't.
She should be htere if there were Tribal council scenes (like say... a funeral, coronation, and such lol)
maybe she was aleady declining and recast

Oh for sure she lived a full life, but it's just another thing added to the movie. 2 deaths of cast members, no hype, everyone attached seems lost, anti vaxx Letitia, 6 different scripts, no T'Challa possibly... Seems like a recipe for disaster

she was in the current movie. Unfortunately it sounds like they still had to shoot something else with the elders.
In other movie news.
Static Shock is getting not only a live action movie, but an animated series produced by Hudlin.
At least something good is happening with black comic leads.
Phil would be a good choice. There's a number of black VAs that could be interesting:

Off the top of my head I'd actually like to see Zeno Robinson do a take on T'Challa
For what it's worth, I liked him as Cyborg in Young Justice: Outsiders.

That's very cool. Does the movie focus on Static himself, or is it more of a showcase for the Milestone Universe overall?

The animated movie is most likely going to be a showcase of other characters. Oh and Winston Duke is gonna be the new voice of Batman in a podcast. And Andy Serkis is looking like he’s going to be the GOAT Alfred.
As a T'Challa fan the new The Batman trailer is depressing.
Can you imagine a Priest Panther film made in that tone? Wow.
Just a shame man.

I've heard. Sounds very good so far. Just hoping they all live up to the hype.

I don’t know why it’s depressing. I was more impressed with the music than what I saw.
Other than there's a guy in a black suit, not a single thing in that trailer said 'Black Panther' to me. What it did say is someone loves Blade Runner's atmosphere.
