Frell. I hate Ron Howard, most tepid director in Hollywood.
Howard is an old hand with Lucasfilm. He just might be the right man for the job.

This could work out well if enough of Miller & Lord craziness shines through Howard's more middle of the road approach. You might get the best of both worlds
Still would have preferred seeing whatever Miller & Lord had, but Lucasfilm is paying for it...

Same. But he'll probably do a decent enough job of executing what Kasdan wrote
Tom Hanks is going to play Han Solo i guess then.
But joke aside, what an odd choice, Ron freaking Howard.
I do love me some Willow ok, nostalgia and all, but that's pretty much the last time i watched something made by him i actually enjoyed.
(and Apollo 13, let's be fair)
Ron Howard will be a puppet who will do what Lawrence Kasdan tells him to do.
Especially since we are far past Ron Howard's heyday and he needs a win and to look like a team player.
Mid-movie directorial changes can make the movie suffer (see The Good Dinosaur), so it'll remain to be seen if the movie shows signs of the course change. However, Howard is a good director, so I think it was a good choice, once it was decided there would be a replacement.
I'm fine with this. Ron Howard is a really good director.

And, somewhere, Anthony Ingruber smiles.
