I do love Babs singing Christmas Carols, especially religious ones. She does a great "These are a Few if My Favorite things"!
To me, this is the best Christmas song. It represents the Christmas truce of 1914 (which was heavily German instigated) and two enemies celebrate the holiday together despite their differences. It sucks that in over 100 years we have actually gone backwards in behavior decency.

Thanks for reminding me of "Favorite Things" I'll have to find that one for my Ipod.
A Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra is the album I go back to every year. Christmas With the Rat Pack is great too, but even still my favorite tracks on those are the ones that Sinatra did (most of which come from the aforementioned album). As for individual songs, I still tend to gravitate towards that era. To me, they just feel like Christmas which is probably because that's what got played in my grandpa's house when we would get together as a family. But my absolute favorite Christmas song is Christmas (Please Come Home) by Darlene Love. It's not officially the start of the Christmas season until I play that at top volume.
For offbeat ones, I love Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Father Christmas by The Kinks.

I forgot to watch the listings to see where Darlene Love was going to appear this year. David Letterman had her on for close to 30 years in a row singing that. It started out as just Paul and a few muscians backing her grew so that eventually she had an orchestra and choir.

I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure that I fell in love with the song through the Letterman appearances.

Happy Christmas War is Over - John Lennon
Angels We Have Heard on High - Brian Setzer Orchestra
Frosty the Snowman - The Cocteau Twins
Santa's Beard - They Might be Giants

I've had this in my iTunes collection for years listed as Carol of the Bells by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Metallica.
A quick look on Google suggests Metallica had nothing to do with it - but the name seems to flip back and forth between Carol of the Bells and Christmas Eve/Sarajevo

Heh. Metallica or not, it's fantastic.
