Marvel's favourite thing to do :p
Wait, Spider-Gwen isn't even in the top 100 anymore?
Why were people getting on my case for suggesting she wouldn't have a book for much longer then? Geez...

I can't help but wonder if part of the problem is oversaturation. Spider-Gwen and her variants have literally been everywhere since shortly after her introduction. Venom and Punisher suffered greatly from overexposure in the 1990s. Venom (Eddie Brock version) has only recovered his formerly lost popularity in the past couple of years, after spending a decade-plus in the wilderness of obscurity, while Punisher has yet to fully recover.

Black Cat #1 sold 255,709 units and was number 1. That’s almost 100k (!!!) more than number 2 on the list, which is DCeased#2.
Can anyone explain why BC is so hot? There’s no movie property with her, and while she’s relatively popular within Spidey fandom, the character is mostly unknown outside of it. I never expected a BC book to move above 40k units, let alone over 250k. That’s nuts.

Well, it is a number one issue so there's that to take into account. Also, a lot of Spidey fans might've been or were certainly interested enough, willing to give it a go. I expect the figures to be quite a bit lower for number two though.

And variants. Never forget about the variants :p.
That's THE reason for it.

Ah yes, how could I've forgotten about the variants LOL.

I'm curious how Black Cat is doing by #4 and #5. That's when we'll really have an idea of how the title is doing.

It's funny that just a short while ago Marvel was all in on removing all the "sexy" female attire and characters in their books, but when they want to actually sell comics, it's "bring in the dozens Scott Campbell variant covers!" :D
I think it´s interesting that Black Cat#1 was the best selling comic book sold, not just becaue it´s actually a cool new ongoing comic book but because she is from the Spider-Man stories as well.
That to me is why i think Spider-Man have one of the best supporting cast of characters in the comic books.
