That's it. Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla was the film then? Haven't seen that since the 90's, only Terror of MechaGodzilla with that sea monster. I remembered enjoying it at the time though. Got to get that at some point. I'd also like to see the first Gigan movie too, liked him in both Megalon and Final Wars.
Ceasar showed up in one of the first MechaGodzilla movies right?
According to that wiki. Odd how I don't remember MechaGodzilla as well from that film as I do King Caesar.
how deep or serious or philosophical do some expect kaiju movies to be?
Me personally, not at all. Remember, I like the old camp stuff. Well, mostly for the monster stuff, I'll admit that even today the parts in between the giant monsters showing up has me drifting off on occasion depending on the film.

He was more of the star though, wasn't he? King Caesar is REALLY popular in Japan.

Godzilla vs. Gigan, subbed and the original Japanese cut is airing non-stop on the Anime Network and is on Hulu right now.

Are the Japanese characters in Godzilla 2000 dubbed over? Something seems off...

I don't think my satellite provider offers Anime Network. Is Hulu free?

That might be the problem. There are four different audio tracks for 2000.

Well that's going to be problematic.

You're welcome! I hope it works for you. You will have to deal with some ads.
That movie should really be called: Godzilla & Anguirus X King Ghidorah & Gigan.
Out of those, I've only seen 54 Godzilla, Rodan, I think Astro Monster (without going to check my DVD collection at home, that was Ghidorah correct?), and possibly Son of Godzilla. Was Son of Godzilla the one where all the Godzilla and Godzilla's son stuff just happened in that one boy's imagination? Because that's usually debated as being one of the worst Godzilla films ever by most fans, even if I personally liked it (it's too cute and innocent a film to dislike).
Son of Godzilla (1967) was where Minilla was introduced and spent the movie getting attacked by Kamacuras and Kumonga. The scientists on the island were testing some kind of weather device and at the end they caused a snow storm which then showed Godzilla holding his son as the snow fell on top of them.
All Monsters Attack (Godzilla's Revenge) (1969) was the one with the kid who was being bullied and he'd talk to Minilla about how the bigger kids/monsters would pick on them.
