This thread is about X of Swords, at least the comparison to Second Coming made sense. I'd like to see Hickman's rationale as to why these powerful mutants need a sword, and I hope to god it's not a Fear Itself-style reason.
Iron Man 2020 is a Marvel event coming out the same year as X of Swords with a ton of unnecessary tie ins.
You don't need to read all of the 2020 tie ins in order to understand the main storyline.
I doubt all of the X of Swords parts will be necessary reading

One of these events is headed by Hickman, the other is not. 15 issues is a lot, and pretty pricey for something that's likely going to seeded with a lot of important stuff going forward. Events are generally not good for individual books, and the rarer and shorter they are the better. The End.

Are we supposed to pronounce is as Cross of Swords?

Ten of swords, as per the tarot card.
man he was pretty much just in he avengers to piss everyone of and continue his f4 stuff, it was really clear he did not care or have much passion about the avengers as he does for the x-men.
also to create new characthers
I disagree. He put a lot of time and effort into his New Avengers/Avengers books especially breaking down the relationship between Tony and Cap as well as building up the animosity between Namor and Black Panther for it to be some sort of stealth FF4. I mean sure Secret Wars was his way of completing his FF arc I'm not disagreeing with you there and the story was better for it.

Then don't buy them or collect them in trade? Like has been previously stated the number of parts isnt unusual for Marvel events and especially X-Men events.

remember when avx was a twelve part mini with a six part companion and tie ins from almost every x-book and avengers book on the market..and then there was a five issue epilogue mini? dark ages
Wtf no Jean on that teaser
Gonna be a long decade...
Love how Fraction decided to only do this dope **** at the very end after several issues of Thor continuity errors and Sin's ugly face.
Sums up Fractions tenure very nicely, bold ideas and horrid execution!!

That was just a promo cover and Jean doesn't have her own sword anyway.
-
I'm still only buying the books I'm currently reading so if the story plays out in those books...fine. If the story plays out in the other books I'm not buying then...also fine.
You never, ever, HAVE to buy anything you don't want to. Regardless of what ANYone says.

It is an event about magic and magic works based on symbolism. It is more complicated to give a bad explanation than a good one.

Interesting nugget found on twitter. Thought I'd share. :D

Most of the characters on that promo dont have their own sword. Jean at least has a TK sword which she has been manifested in the past

Looks like the worst X-Men thing ever.

Has anyone seen Shatterstar recently?
Looks like the worst X-Men thing ever.
I'm sorry, what? This is the worst thing ever? What about Rosenberg? Remender when he snapped from years of fan abuse and corporate pressure? The Faction years?
