Here are not so old comics I would recommand from what I've read:
* I Kill Giants by Joe Kelly <- yes the same book as the 2015 movie
* Paper Girls <- excellent serie
* Punk Rock & Trailer Parks + My Friend Dahmer + Trashed <- by a very tallented new writter/artist Derf Backderf
* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Color Classics vol.1-2 (old comics but recently collored and published as collected paperbacks) <- by the great Kevin Eastman
* Red/Tokyo Storm Warning by the well known Warren Ellis <- yes the book that inspired the 2 movies R.E.D and R.E.D 2
* Snowpiercer: The Escape + Snowpiercer: The Explorers + Terminus <- yes like the movie of the same name
* Blacksad <- by the spanish author Juan Díaz - with excellent watercolor art
* Batman: White Knight <- an interresting point of view on Batman
Have fun with that it's all excellent and top quality.
