That just made me wonder what if they changed the ending of the movie so that someone other than Good Guy Supes is the one who takes out EVIL SUPERMAN! at the end?
Are they even adapting the game?

No, it'll be Batman. Again.

Watch it end with both Batmen from the IJ universe and “good universe” double teaming him.

My money is on Harley
This might be dumb & maybe I should go to the Batman thread for this question but why did it take so long to execute The Joker? I mean like legally at some point the laws should have executed that man years ago.

In-universe? - Apparently Gotham’s laws on the insanity plea operates off the stereotype the way people in our world think it does.
Out of universe? - Joker = $$$ for DC.

You're all correct. It's going to be Batman and Harley who will make out over Injustice Superman's knocked out body as the film draws to a close.

I figured the game would be easier to adapt since it has a kind of complete story, but they could easily do something completely different.
But the game ending is practically the only thing going for Superman fans.

Ends with a quote about liberty vs. security from some random historical figure that they probably never said so fans can think they watched something deep as the scene fades to black.

Even that's giving it too much credit considering it ends with the good Clark thinking he may befall a similar heel turn in the same scenario and Bruce adding he'll come for him if he does.
Clark can't have any win that Batchad doesn't one-up him on or else the writing team wouldn't be hacks.

I'm trying to be positive here :p.
It's ultimately on NRS since they're the ones who put the story together, but the idea that Good Guy Supes could become EVIL SUPERMAN! seems like it was completely lifted from the Justice Lords concept (which is one of my big complaints about Injustice: it's a derivative story but executed worse).

Considering DC's publishing history following Watchmen, I'd argue that's NetherRealm being true to the source material. DC has been chasing that dragon for decades and never once have they come even within a mile of understanding what Moore was saying with it.
So, with Injustice, it's only fitting NRS too **** that particular bed.

Well, it seems like the climax is the two sides fighting when Plastic Man breaks his kid out.

Oh, didn't see that part of the promotion.

Looks like it’s Year One + the Annual where Plastic Man gets his kid, so no. They’ll probably set up sequels for the remaining Years alas which is what I was afraid of.
