Inferno #2 *spoilers*
Spoilers for the issue.
The book opens up explaining how Destiny came back: Mystique disguised herself as Charles and Magneto, then got a Cerebro helmet and Destiny's DNA. (These are scenes we saw in the first issue.) Sinister knows that Mystique is coming to him in disguise, but he laughs it off and goes with it.
The Destiny we see is the real Destiny. Mystique disguised herself to trick the Five into reviving Destiny by disguising herself as Xavier. She spent four weeks caring for Destiny, who was freaking out because she was experiencing a rush of different, foreign timelines all at once.
In present time, the Quiet Council vote to put Destiny on the council. Magneto, Kate, Storm, and Charles vote no, but Nightcrawler (voting for his mother's happiness), Sinister, Shaw, Mystique, Emma and Exodus all vote to bring her on. Flashbacks show that Mystique went to each of these people and convinced her to vote her way. In Emma's case, she bribed her with something in a box, though we don't see what it is.
Later, Moira freaks out over that Charles and Mags letting this happen. She proposes they just kill Destiny, but Magneto says he's not going to be a child and go against the spirit of Krakoa by exerting his power to get what he wants. They instead propose that they bring in their own Council member, one they can count on.
We get a transcript of Mystique and Destiny talking. Mystique explains how she's been screwed over by Charles and Mags, and thinks that they kiboshed Destiny's resurrection because they feared her seeing something they wouldn't want her to. Destiny says that she's looking into the future, but she sees nothing - there's a hole there.
Later, Mystique disguises herself as Sage to check into some of X-Force's intel. We see an X-Force mission log about Orchis. A note mentions a Paris safe house gateway. But according to the log, Xavier overrode part of it, saying that they're decreasing observation on Orchis and no longer deems them a threat. A lot of information is redacted.
Then, Mystique impersonates a scientist and enters the safehouse. She talks to some apes (the actual animal, not humans) and one exposits that they made a translocator to the Forge. When it becomes active, they can open a doorway to the inner ring and "force-feed this sick world the medicine that it needs." This utilizes the full power of the sun.
Later, Charles, Magneto and Moira meet Emma at the Louvre. (We know this is Emma because she demonstrates telepathy.) Moira lets Emma read her thoughts, causing Emma to freak out. Emma's really pissed that she was left in the dark and manipulated for years, and says that they lost her loyalty forever. However, she'll still consider siding with them, if only for the greater good. The others are unsure if they made an enemy out of Emma, but at least they know she understands the gravity of what they're doing. Moira says that Charles and Magneto were right, and they need someone they can trust on the council.
Later, the QC meet to fill the next Council spot. Mystique, Destiny, Shaw and Sinister vote against, while everyone else votes for. The newest member is Colossus, "in him we can trust."
The Krakoan at the end says NIMROD.

The ending with Colossus made me sad I dropped X-Force. Has he been compromised in that story with Mikhail?

Yes by Mikhail but the story itself was underwhelming. Its so odd that they chose Piotr
-
Can I just say I called it? I was the first to point out that it was Raven posing as Erik and Charles. Yay me!
-
I think Mystique deserves exactly what those two has done to her due to her past crimes. She got the taste of her own medicine.
-
Cable should have been first choice considering Cable and Charles had a mutual acquaintance before
-
Very intriguing. It was great seeing the political maneuvers of Mystique and the Quiet Council in action. A little confused about the subplot with the gates. From last issue I thought Orchis was getting close to discovering Moira, and in this issue Xavier deleted the enhanced security response to preserve her secret (incredibly short sighted). I'm not sure how that led to Mystique discovering Orchis' attempt to make a gateway to the Forge. It's weird to find myself rooting for Mystique after years of terrible and inconsistent writing. Ugghhh, Colossus. I don't buy that Kate or Emma would have voted for Piotr to join the Council, Emma especially as she would have recognized this as the obvious attempt of Xavier to insert a player he can easily manipulate. And of course, Colossus is deeply compromised, hopefully when that comes to light and they dispose of him he's no longer on the Council. I think it would have been a better move to just let Moira fill the open seat and come clean to the rest of the Council and Krakoa about the truth of the situation. Caselli's art was lovely.
-
Emma is seemingly done with Charles, Erik and Moira and she now knows that it isnt wise to trust Destiny and Raven either, its going to be interesting to see where this revelation leads Emma. I think no matter what Emma is going to do whatever she see fit for the wellbeing of Krakoa but its going to be interesting to see how she does this knowing what she knows now. I need to also find out whats in that black box it is actually driving me insane that we still have no clue as to whats inside.
This kind of makes me even more excited to see where she ends up post inferno and that wolverine event.
-
I don't understand why they had this "big reveal" of it being Colossus. What's the big surprise in THAT?
-
Can I just say I called it? I was the first to point out that it was Raven posing as Erik and Charles. Yay me!
yea good call. although it is confusing how she moves the object hiding the cerebro on magnetos island.
also is her giving hope the cerebro just confirming she resurrected wanda in trial of magneto?
-
What an excellent issue!
I knew Raven would bring back a younger, hotter, pussycat doll Destiny who is now officially on the QC! Raven was slick with how she secured the votes and I'm extremely curious as to what she gave Emma. Any ideas? Emma is a wildcard now, knowing the full truth about Moira. The stakes are high.
I loved how Erik refused to kill Destiny despite Moira's anger. Now I firmly believe Moira will let Creed loose to ignite the inferno.
I was so happy to see Piotr get the final spot on the QC but also sad because he's currently under his brother's control. What a mess!
Sidenote: the art was gorgeous. I adore this panel of handsome Erik, and Charles obviously has a new fitness app that is doing him wonders.

Almost forgot. Now I think Hope did indeed resurrect Wanda in TOM.

I don't think she was terribly written during MC. When she killed Rogue and getting revived by Hope

I'm thinking it may tie into X-Force, that he's compromised. But I could be wrong.
This was a hell of a great issue. 2 for 2 5/5s. Let's hope it continues the path unlike the other "big event" X-book right now that totally went off the rails with issue 3, but I hope it won't.
-
Like why Colossus?
I'm super underwhelmed, but I'll wait and see what Hickman has in store for him. If it ties into Percy's awful drug out plot then I'm going to be majorly disappointed.
-
Ok Destiny fine as hell!! Raven I get it mama I do!
-
Just read it all, and just HOLY SH*T it's so good(expect colossus, I expected something much better. It's because of how he's been treated in X-force.They could have built him up much better).
I do have one thing I don't like w/ Inferno :-the X-force team being just the 3 when mutants could easily take the forge in 1, Mystique pulling all she did in this issue. It's very easy to prevent this and Hickman hasn't given good enough/any reason to us for this.
Other than that absolute peak comic right here, makes me all the more sadder that he's gone after this.
Also Xavier/Mags/Moira can't catch a break, making mistakes after mistakes.
-
I feel like they chose colossus because they know he would be a yes man and is somebody they believe can be trusted but then like i feel like that can be said for many other characters too so idk…

Meh I liked GILFrene better.

I hope it does, I really hope it's not a before that situation because if it's just Colossus then it'e even more boring.
The momentum is insane.

Same, I see what Mystique sees in her.Making me feel things
-
This was a solid issue. I don’t have a lot of time to review it, but I am interested in seeing where it goes.
Oh and damn was it great to see Hickman's Magneto again.
-
Moira is so a censored word.
Emma will make those three suffer. and suffer like hell.
-
Me when I saw they chose Colossus. Who TF cares about or is intimidated these days by Colossus?

-
I find myself rooting against Moira, Charles & Erik so hard their arrogance is just so annoying.
-
In what world would anyone consider Colossus for a leadership position? The guy has never been known for his leadership skills or intellect. Even if no one else knows how he'd been compromised and we accept that this is only so Charles and Eric have a yes man on the council, i still makes no sense. Even when narrowing it down to people who can be trusted and resolving what is going on in X-Force, Colossus should be at the bottom of the list of candidates.
-
Out of all the QC members to turn to (Storm/Kurt even Exodus), Xavier and Magneto turned to Emma for support because they believe they can trust her, really! And Emma getting all up in her feelings because they didn't tell her anything, like she had any right to know. Man I wish Apocalypse was still on the council, he would be a much better ally for Xavier, Magneto and Moira. And he probably wouldn't hesitate to put down both Mystique and Destiny. Also what could anyone on the QC possibly have against Colossus that they wouldn't vote for him to be on the council, considering that they themselves were appointed by Xavier and Magneto. Smacks of hubris, arrogance and elitism, like they think he's not good enough.
-
The ending with Colossus made me sad I dropped X-Force. Has he been compromised in that story with Mikhail?
He's being controlled by his brother and killed his girlfriend.
-
He's being controlled by his brother and killed his girlfriend.
Yes, they've put an enemy agent on the council (because they're wrong about everything it seems).
I wonder if this means Colossus' story is paid off in Inferno? That seems weird. Maybe it's just a reward for X-Force readers, because they know this is trouble.
-
If this takes place after X Force, Colossus might no longer be compromised. Even if he isn't compromised, there are better options.
-
Colossus? Why? Where is this coming from? lol not from anything written in the last 30 years. It is only a plot devise for me without any intra-universe logic to back it up...
...at least he looks damn fine.

He was the guy they had beat to show how tough the enemy was way back when and he never got out of it IMO
He's the muscle except he's not even high tier at that(w/ cyttorak).

Agreed, not a smart guy.I guess Yes man, although (hopefully) we'll see the pitch and reasoning in X-force since we saw Xavier got to Colossus at the end of recent X-force, may have just been foreshadow this now that I think about it.
-
Oh also I'd have paid good money to see Shaw's face when Emma voted yes. He's the fourth person here who can't stop taking L's(aside from X/Mags/Moira)
-
This might be my least favorite issue of Hickman's entire run. The problem is that the pieces are clearly moving exclusively because Hickman wants them to go there, rather because it makes any sense whatsoever.

Bingo. I agree with everything you’ve written. I think you know who my choice would’ve been and is to take over Krakoa…

Apoc would off them both w/out any hesitation and look the council in the face after. What are they gonna do to him, pretty sure Krakoa wouldn't even open the hole for him to be thrown.
And Emma finding out would be something that made sense, or that she was brought in for connections/or a problem she could handle(Emma>>>Shaw in trust) but this was weird
-
Ha, Colossus, the guy who betrayed Xavier and Magneto in the span of a single week during "Fatal Attractions."
-
I should've enjoyed this issue, but the fact that Xavier, Magneto and Moira are so dumb is just too much suspension of disbelief to handle.
-
The ending with Colossus made me sad I dropped X-Force. Has he been compromised in that story with Mikhail?
Friend please don’t be sad. It was a last minute reveal with some hints in the first couple issues that you probably read.
-
Like why Colossus?
I think the idea is since Colossus is traditionally an X-man, he's being placed there to tip the power balance in Charles and Erik's favor.
-
I honestly loved this issue. It was really cool seeing Mystique manipulate her way into bringing Destiny back. Seeing them reunited was so great. I love how Hickman writes them and the other villains like Sinister and Exodus.
I still hate Xavier/Magneto/Moira but can't wait to see what Emma does now that she has the knowledge of what is really going on.
I felt pretty meh about the Colossus reveal. Idk, I guess I just don't really care about the character that much.

Yeah, I'm thinking Beast would have been the best choice.
Hank took Charles' spot on the illuminati during Hickman's run on New Avengers.
