Nobody knows about The Usual Suspects?

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a case of people remembering the movie but not who directed it.
On a tengentially related note, The Usual Suspects was a great movie.

2 trailer will run at 1 minute and 31 seconds. This is 39 seconds less than the original trailer, which premiered last September

Interesting. I just hope this is the sizzle trailer, so to speak. The first one set the tone/plot, so let this one showcase the action a bit. Maybe it'll actually reveal Chastain's character?

As already said, people remember the movie but not the director. General audiences don’t really pay attention to what goes on behind the scenes of a film.
Directors that general audiences know about are names like Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Tim Burton, and Chris Nolan. You have to make a lot of iconic movies to be recognized by the public.
Olivia Munn just confirmed that she won't appear in the film:

Heard she was originally going to be in it but she was filming The Predator at the time.

I heard it’s mostly just a cut down version of the first trailer.

Where did you hear that from?
I heard from an anonymous source that the outcome of the latest test screening was to change the ending, again.
I’ll take it with a gain of salt until/if it is announced.
He/she also said that the alleged test screening during the holidays was bogus as well.

Official or not, that is simply stunning. :o
To each his/her own, of course. The movie version worked well enough for the film, but I found it seriously lacking when compared to the comics, especially considering that Thanos is one of my favorite characters.
Dark Phoenix is getting a theatrical release, as the deal likely won't be finalized until right around the time the film releases in June. Disney has no control over what happens to it prior to finalization of the deal. Even if they get control prior to release, they'd be dumb to scrap it because it's essentially free money. Fox is the one that spent all the money to make and distribute it: Disney would just be cashing the checks.
And the whole brand/quality control argument holds no water: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn't stop Homecoming from being released a couple years later. If the brand is big enough, which the X-Men are, then Disney'll make it happen, regardless of how Dark Phoenix turns out.
New Mutants, however, is a different story, as Disney should have control over all of Fox's assets well before its anticipated August release date. Given how off-the-wall that one is, a lot of people (myself included) wouldn't be surprised if it didn't end up on Hulu.
There's now saying it's possible Disney might get the relevant approvals from Mexico and Brazil by next month. So Disney could get to complete the takeover very soon.
