Carnivale was also great, and it took place on small towns and on the road. Great show.

Yeah, I think the guy who played Eb was the last one and he died earlier this year.

For a pretty short stretch back in the nineties, Fox Television put on what I believe was just a partial season of [B][I]The Outsiders[/I][/B]. While Tom Waits playing Buck Merrill was a pretty small part of the film, the role was quite a bit more central in the series. Billy Bob Thorton played Merrill in the series. Between that role and it being mid/late-sixties Oklahoma, it always felt pretty "Rural..." to me.
