It amazes me how similar the synopsis for this run is to the beginning of Coats run. The only optimism that I have about it is the fact that the writer isn't doing a bunch of interviews slandering the character and his history ala Coats
Redjack was literally right freaking there. But nope! We gotta get literary types! Bast, I really hope I’m wrong and that this is just my ptsd from the past couple of years getting the better of me. As long as this new guy is more along the lines of Kasper and less of Ayo and Aneka then we’re good.

This is from the summary...

In addition, the main story in the 200th issue of BLACK PANTHER will see T'Challa face off against the X-Men!

Great a chumping out to THEM-
New Hero?
Maybe his cousin from Ms Marvel?
Judge from Miles Morales reveals he is Wakandan?
Flint from Inhumans shows up?

Again, Redjack was right there. Jesus between this and the MCU is there really a point in being a fan of this franchise anymore?
-
I'm not even going to fight it and I'm just going to accept your optimism. A new Hero 3 issues in after a four-month delay for some mysterious reason that probably has to do with MCU synergy.....nevermind *breathes*
I’m not optimistic. I could easily see a story where within the first 12 issues T’Challa gives up the mantle to this new character. It’s possibly not that, but I doubt it. I was kinda expecting Shuri to take/share the mantle after 2-3 years, but it looks like they’re replacing T’Challa ASAP lol.

As disappointing as all this is shaping up to be so far, giving up on T'Challa feels to me a lot like giving in to the same people, within both the fandom and the industry, who want to diminish capital-B Blackness within the superhero genre, to say nothing of the overall sci-fi/fantasy/SF (speculative fiction) genres.

At least the delay makes sense now... they wanted to put out the anniversary issue in February... Black History month

Oh. Well that explains everything. Bast please let Ridley prove me wrong.
To celebrate, BLACK PANTHER #200 will be an oversized issue with bonus stories celebrating the past and foreshadowing the future of the Black Panther and the world of Wakanda. Ridley will also introduce a new hero who rises up to protect the people of Wakanda while T’Challa finds his life and role as Black Panther thrown into turmoil! Fans will be able to witness the beginning of this new hero’s journey before seeing him become a key player of Ridley’s run in future issues.

…damn. Trying to stay positive, maybe it’s a fakeout like Gotham was in TK’s Batman run? Hope Ridley doesn’t make a fool out of me for defending him :(
-
nope nope nope nope I won't be tricked into this shit again. Justified all this dumb shit with Coates interviews, then tried to justify the actual issues, only to spend way too much money before giving up.
Learned my lesson last time.

This isn't optimism, this is denial yall lol
Remember what some of us said when they said no recast?
Remember when we said there would be an attempted phase out?
I thought they woudl at least wait until the movie gave them a path but guess we gonna start this shit early.

Can a Black Panther book actually try pushing T'Challa before someone else. Coates already did this during his run I'm not interested in it happening again.
-
It really went from "hey we might be getting a Priest espionage like story!" to "oh he praised Coates but he said HUDLIN!!" to "Kasper Cole wanna be" really fucking quick
