Honestly, most of the villains in the movies didn't wow me. The only villains that I consistently liked were the MCU ones.
Most of their villains have been pretty forgettable until relatively recently. At least we're still talking about Dafoe's Goblin or Molina's Doc Ock. When's the last time someone brought up Eccleston's Malekith?

I'd say the MCU Spider-Villains are better than most of the other movie Spider-Villains

They were turned into Iron Man villains. That's a huge step down.

I'd say they're still much more memorable than the average MCU villain, but yeah.

I was specifically talking about the Spider-Man villains anyways.

They still mostly went after Spider-Man. That's more than I can say for Mandarin and Ghost, actual IM villains given to Shang-Chi and Ant-Man/Wasp, respectively, or Ultron, who fought every Avenger except Ant-Man and Wasp, or Baron Zemo, who killed T'Chaka instead of Klaw doing it
I didn't see the need for Mysterio to be connected to Iron Man either. But he still went after Spider-Man in the end

It provided an excuse as to how Mysterio knew about EDITH.

That's true. I meant more in the general sense of writing the story in the first place. But I see what you mean.

Yeah, but did Spider-Man need all of his movie villains to be motivated mostly by Tony Stark? Spider-Man just ended up becoming their main nuisance.

I don't think Mysterio needed to be connected to Iron Man, in terms of writing the whole story in the first place.
But a lot of the MCU villains have been shuffled around. I don't think Spider-Man is alone in that regard. Would being more comic accurate be good? For the most part, yeah, IMO. I'm guessing NWH won't be like that.

I even liked the part where he sung itsy bitsy spider. Seemed like something that could have come right out of Lee's playbook.

They didn't do it once in regards to tying a Spidey villain to Tony Stark.
They did it twice.

Still, the writing and acting was really good, and that's what matters in the end.

Well, the fight with Mysterio was good. Vulture was okay.
No quips though.

He was a good actor, but he has really poor material to work with.
