On the one hand, I want them to differentiate themselves from the Fox universe. On the other hand, being too different from what were really fundamentals of the X-Men can turn out really badly. On a small scale certain characters can be used in association with established MCU characters, like pairing Magik with Dr. Strange. But on a larger scale I just don't know. I don't want to see the O5 again, as they are incredibly boring characters 99% of the time. Wolverine Magneto are better characters but have been overused and need a break. Xavier could also use a break, but the X-Men don't work without him around in some capacity in their first big movie.

I really think Marvel Studios will bring the X-Men into the MCU by starting with the O5 & Xavier. Outside of that, I'm not sure how it'll play out. I also think they'll have their original costumes. That's how they can distinguish the MCU X-Men from the Fox X-Men. Start from scratch with Scott, Jean, Hank, Bobby & Warren. If it was me, I would even start the first movie with Jean coming to the school JUST LIKE X-MEN #1! With Xavier being the most powerful telepath in the world, it would make sense that he could shield them from...well...SHIELD and the Avengers and the rest of the world.

I kind of hope they go the route of having the X-Men already established as a team, just no one knew about them because they work in secret. X-Men for some reason are one of very few heroes where the origins don't interest me at all. Outside of Wolverine, but Fox both focused too much on his origin and screwed it up, so I'm in no rush to see it on the big screen again.

I would start with a slightly altered lineup. Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Beast, Polaris, Colossus, and bring in Storm in the end. I would really play up the fact that Polaris is the daughter of Magneto (even if she didn't know at first) since she will be his only child in the MCU. I think that would be a pretty balanced team as far as looks and powers go. I like Angel, but he is just one of those characters who works better in the comics than he does in the movies. Wolverine would be teased in the post credit scene but not seen. I think you really need to establish the rest of the team before bringing Wolverine if you don't want to overshadow them again like what happened with the Fox movies. Plus if you give the rest of the team a shot first it takes a little of the pressure off whoever it is that has to fill Jackmans shoes as the new Wolverine.
I know the major complaint about using the any of the O5 era X-men is the whole team is white. I would have no problem with a race bent Cyclops or Iceman to be honest.

I'd like too see some of the magic that Marvel Studios has produced being replicated with the X-Men. I am hoping they finally cast someone tall for the role of Cyclops. Someone short for Wolverine. The Fox movies had done a pretty good job of casting Professor X and Magneto, so I hope that at least crosses over from the Fox films to the Marvel Studios produced ones.
I would like to see them establish the original 5 first before moving forward with the ANAD version of the X-Men that I have come to know and love.

I'm hoping Hugh Jackman comes in as Mysterio and the other Fox alum in different roles. Fassbender would kill it as Union Jack and McAvoy could be a good Moon Knight.
Cavill should be Pete Wisdom.
-
I hope they stay separate with a few very short cameos
-
I just hope they keep their own tone and style.
I suppose you could make the same argument with the Hand, though I think the Hand proves that Netflix MCU is not the same reality as movie MCU - you can't have two secret organizations that have infiltrated everything.

Interesting, but I think I see McAvoy more as Union Jack - the Joey Chapman one. But that's me. I wouldn't have thought of it other than your post put their names together. ;)
Fassbender could be a good Baron Blood though...

Now I'm suddenly picturing Henry Golding as Cyclops.

I don't think it really matters anyway. Since most of the Netflix shows don't appeal to MCU film stans to begin with.
