Campy fun.
It's alright. I wouldn't say I like or dislike it.
It's alright. I wouldn't say I like or dislike it.
I seem to be somewhat in this camp.
It's been a while since I saw it (I saw it back when it was originally in movie theatres) and I seem to remember that Helen Slater did a good job as Kara, but the parts played by Faye Dunaway and Brenda Vaccaro were more from the 1966 Batman TV show school of overly-campy villain acting.
It was fine. I did like Helen Slater and I really liked the score by Jerry Goldsmith.
Helen Slater was fantastic in the movie. she has so many great pieces of dialogue and her whole demeanor is a very apparent offset to Superman; she captured exactly how I read Kara in the comics.

Yea that why faye dunaway got the golden raspberry nomination and helen Slater won the Saturn award for best actress.. but I agree faye was not a highlight in the movie. ( even though shes a witch with a love potion plot)
It was bad, but teenage me thought Helen Slater was dreamy. She deserved better, IMO.

Which part or actors did you think were bad?

She was actually closer to the CB version than Christopher Reeve was in regard to Superman, IMO. I loved the latter in the first two Supes films, but he was never was the klutz like he was on the silver screen - the Donnerverse was also where The Big Blue Boy Scout was created, too.

It was less the acting and more the script, LL.

Helen Slater is dreamy <3 ( I tried it upload a picture but it didnt work..)
What do you mean big blue boy scout was created during Richard Donner films?

What I mean is the way he was portrayed in the films. As a Bronze Age reader of Superman back then, he didn't seem like he was so by-the-book as he was in the Donnerverse (though obviously not to the extreme the Adam West Bats was - nobody was more of a boy scout than him :)).
