New thread! Can’t wait, feels like this could be a great year for Hulk. Here’s to hoping this decade treats him better than the last one.
Starting off 2020 with a new Mac screen...and one of my favorite Sal Buscema pages, used for a variant on Immortal Hulk #1.

Piggy-backing off the Mac screen problem I had a few weeks ago, my review of Hulk Annual #11 went belly-up too.
It was such a chore getting thru that book that I'm just gonna link it to another review and call it good.

Shame that I can't remember my comments from the original review, but I liked the art team here. Buckler was a good artist, and we don't have look at pages full of Kirby swipes in this book.

Tarot was ok, seems like it could be a fun read from what we've seen so far.
Also it seems we are getting ANOTHER Hulk vs Thor showdown... seriously how many times have those 2 fought each other...

I thought it was a pretty decent as a throw-back story. Def a trade-wait, though

Yea, this takes place some time in the past, could be a fun time but nothing really important much or relevant at all to the current Hulk.
I entered comic sections after a few days of absence and am surprised to see appreciation threads locked. Why are these an annual thing now?

This looks like a fun book I missed.
I miss poor Bill Mantlo, anytime I see his name I remember that he wanted to be a lawyer up until a certain point 30 years ago. :(
Happy New Year to the Strongest One There Is .

A while back the forums slowed to a crawl and basically became unusable. It was decided that locking the Appreciation threads and making them annual would take a load off the servers, so now they’re yearly.
Immortal Hulk again among the best of the best!
The Best Comics of 2019
The Immortal Hulk by Al Ewing, Joe Bennett, et al (Marvel Entertainment)
As stated above, it’s been a strange year for superhero comics as a whole, but hardly a bad one, especially as Ewing and Bennett’s creepy body horror take on Marvel’s iconic strongman continued — and continued to get darker and more disturbing as it grew larger in scope. Even after the initial storyline concluded, the series reinvented itself as the year closed, promising that 2020 will see a Hulk (and a Bruce Banner, more importantly) at war with the way the world works, with the reader not entirely sure that he’s wrong. It's miles away from the cuddly version of the character as seen in Avengers: Endgame, and all the better for it.

Guest Stars/Supporting Cast: Betty Ross, Rick Jones, Bereet
Villain: The U-Foes
Synopsis: Bruce Banner is able to cure Rick Jones of his gamma radiation poisoning with the help of Bereet and his old Gamma Base equipment. The celebration is short lived when a distraught Betty is unable to accept Banner’s newfound control over the Hulk and storms off. Bruce chases after her and tries explaining the good an intelligent Hulk will do for the entire planet when they are interrupted by the U-Foes. They each take a turn at attacking Banner, who in turn changes into the Hulk. He easily takes down the villains until X-Ray bombards him with Gamma Negative Rays, which changes him back to Banner. Ironclad arrives, viscously punches him and Vapor chokes him into oblivion. They carry him further away into Gamma Base, leaving Betty, Rick and Bereet to take matters into their own hands about rescuing him.
Commentary: U-Foes are back together and Ironclad is sporting a sleeker look. This reminds me of the Thing’s progression from a giant lump of oatmeal to his rocky hide in the early years of the FF. We finally get Rick cured, and Betty takes a turn for the worse. While it may seem out of character for her, if you take into account everything the woman has been thru, it’s not that much of a stretch to lash out at Banner for enjoying becoming the Hulk.

This is great to hear, since U-foes are one of my favorite Hulk villains, they are so underrated and we haven't actually seen them pop-up in a Hulk comic in a very, VERY long time.
Xemu will defeat this monsters in the end and Roxxon will blame hulk for the monsters saying that this was part of his plan to destroy the human world.

Is this a spoiler or a prediction? Cause i was thinking something like this would happen, like all of this is a plan just to set up Hulk.
Based on the solicits, something like this is gonna happen.

YES!!! It's about time for a Hulk vs U-Foes rematch. I also wonder how the team would deal with the Immortal HULK ?

do the U-Foes even have human bodies now? Are their forms permanently "powered"? Especially in Vector's case, the look just seemed odd to have all the time.
do the U-Foes even have human bodies now? Are their forms permanently "powered"? Especially in Vector's case, the look just seemed odd to have all the time.
I believe that their bodies are permanently in a powered up state. Plus, if I remember their origin correctly, they sought to duplicate the powers of the FF because they all hated being normal humans. So they probably don’t care wether their human bodies are gone.
Come to think of it, if the U-foes do show up, Al could draw some strong contrasts between them and Jackie McGee, since she wants to be a hulk. Or better yet... compare them to Betty! That could be some dark psychological stuff. The wheels are just turning in my mind right now. Maybe Al can be the one to finally confirm whether Betty is bi-polar or not.
Dunno why the U-Foes have not apeared in more Hulk stories because ever since i first read the Hulk stories with them waay back i thought they were a interesting group of villains for the Hulk.
I am intrigued to see how will be the U-Foes by Al Ewing and Joe Bennet.

Ewing’s Immortal Hulk rebukes the expectations of the reader at every turn, and the story is all the better for it. Downright disrespectful to the MCU’s take on the popular character, Ewing’s world and characters live in the nuances of esoteric religion, nuclear anxiety, and toxic masculinity in a nod to extreme literal intentionality and merit that most superhero comics today simply don’t take the time to find let alone develop. This is a title where even the end of the universe isn’t off limits, and the only expectation you have going in is that all expectations will be exceeded.

I still don't get why this comic exists.... It's literally just "hey lets give Spider-Man Hulk powers for a day" and that's it.
I mean i can already see the comic, oh Spider-Man can't control his temper and strength, he must find a way to do so before it's too late and someone gets hurt and it all ends with Banner getting the Hulk powers back like nothing happened.

You may not have enjoyed this one, but I have a sentimental spot for this annual. Why, you ask? I distinctly remember it as one of the first comics I ever had/read, plus it was most definitely my introduction to the concept of the unified Marvel Universe (although I most definitely didn't recognize it as such except in hindsight). It recycles the same tropes--Hulk blamed for somehow being responsible for the Green Flu, gets attacked by the good guys, and finally everybody realizes the Leader's the real bad guy, the end. I'd have liked to see Rikki Keegan more, to get some more background on her and perhaps for her to have survived, but we can't have it all, alas.
A lot of solid art by Rich Buckler and Joe Sinnott. And dear God, I wish I could afford to buy the original art for page 11.
Oh, and welcome back, fellas. It's been a while.
